Hermanson looked very comfortable...not sure on exact time but was a 2:05 something. All she had to do was advance to the next round and she got it done.

Gigstead running now.

Gigstead second from last in her heat...won't advance. Ran a 2:09. She had a great season with tremendous improvement...set the stage nicely for next year.

2:03.19...I think that's a PR. She ran smart!

Boy did the runner from Tennessee put on a burst of speed at the end. I thought Laura was going to pull off the win until the that very last stretch.

Just noticed that Leslie will be competing against a vaulter from Oral Roberts in the pole vault finals tomorrow night. It's great to have two Summit athletes in the same event.

Leslie vaulted 13' 9.25" and finished in 12th based on misses etc....her height was as good as the 8th place finisher.

All of the vaulters who finished in places 1 through 10 are juniors or seniors. The 11th place winner from LSU will be a soph like Leslie (and was on the same international team as Leslie last summer).

Not sure what it takes to be all-America....1-8? or 1-12?

Great year!

The finals of the women's 800 meters is on CBS - live - at about 12:15. Hermanson's in the mix for a place. There are several with better PR's but if the first lap is controlled, Hermanson could sneak into the top five. That would be not just All-America...that would be BIG TIME All-America.

Darned CBS...they didn't have it live. They had a clip of the last 50-60 meters....HERMANSON SECOND!!!!! Time was 2:01 something, lowering your school record by more than two seconds.

This is a fabulous athletic achievement. Congrats to Hermanson, Coach Godfrey, and the Bison faithful.

Thanks Hammer...that really helps put into perspective what our track athletes did this year. We had 1/2 of the competitors in the whole conference and had 2 of 3 place winners. We had the only one in the conference that placed in a running event...2nd place mind you! Congrats Ladies!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
