Why is he leaving?

The Positive out of this -

If the kid wasn't happy him leaving on what I assume is good terms, keeps him from negativley impacting the team like a couple other kids

He can go back to Texas get whatever he needs to straightened out and still go on and get a good education

The Negatives-

Leaves us thin in the backfield with less room for injuries, (kinda like last year)

Loss of another player which I thought would be a quality kid with some speed in the backfield

Its too bad, but I hope for whatever reason he left it all works out for him in the future

What is the percentage of Texas guys that stick around until graduation?

If this keeps they'll have to put the student managers on the depth chart.

They'll tap Bisonville for talent, just wait to see Lakes on the roster as backup QB.

He is the 4th player lost from the freshman recruiting class of 2008 (see list here for reference: http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthread.php?p=251496&highlight=Osborne#post251496). Mohler is suspended and Offerman is ineligible. That's ugly.

If I was him and I would have seen great opportunity in the fact that the last 2 people that started at my position got drafted in the NFL - but that's just me. Hopefully years later he doesn't regret the decision.

Sometimes a player sees that writing on the wall that he's not going to play much. I don't know if that's the case but I wouldn't rule it out either.

Possible, but I don't think so. Osborne was no worse than the #2 free safety for now, with a legitimate shot at being the starter as a redshirt freshman.

And truth be known, he had a slight edge on Jackson.

My guess is this, and it is only a guess, but he was recruited by Willie Mack and was going to play for him as a position coach and DC. My guess is he didn't adjust to Breske who now fills both rolls. I don't know that for certain, but anytime a guy who is no worse than tied for a starting job as a RFr leaves campus, leaves school, and leaves the program before the end of the semester or spring practice, it has to be something like that. Again, my guess.

On the other hand, it could be a family issue, like Mitchell had, but the coach usually comes out and says that so the fans don't think the worst. Bohl said nothing about family issues in the university press release.

I am hearing from media members that he was just flat homesick. I guess I trust that more than I do guessing it was a conflict with a coach. At practice last Saturday Jackson was practicing with the 1's.

Quick fix: move Mertens to free safety.

Then move Beebow to quarterback.

Problems solved. Well, except for the kicker problems. But hey two outta three ain't bad.

He must not be as homesick as some think because he's still on campus and attending classes. I have a class with him and he's been there all week.

do you expect him to leave with 2 weeks left of school even if he's homesick wouldn't it be smart to finish the semester off???

Could be a chick problem.
But then again.....
Gee, I've never heard of girlfriend problems screwing with a young kid's head.
