Thought some of you might find this interesting, an article on some of the history of drafts and free agency and legal challenges to them.

The NFL Lockout of 2010 is pretty much a guarantee. Peter King has been harping on this for over a year. Let's hope the powers in NFL are smarter than the powers in baseball and hockey were.

I'm not sure I agree with the articles analysis. The union is certainly led by veterans but their insistance on a relatively low rookie wage scale may actually be hurting veterans. If the unproven guy is cheap it makes it easier to take a chance on him rather than paying the higher veterans minimum to an experienced guy. These rules (artificially high veterans minimum, artificially low rookie pay) may be forcing marginal veterans out of the league and artificially shortening their careers in favor of cheaper but unproven players.

Another reason the Lions have won 1 playoff game in 50 years. Overpaying for an unproven QB.
