It appears that Leslie Brost's mark in the pole vault is a new Drake Relay record in the Women's College-University Division. Her height of 13' 9.25" bettered the old record of 13' 5.75" set by a Missouri athlete in 2003.

Looking ahead:
The Women's College-University record in the 800 Meter Run is 2:02.99.

Looking hypothetically:
The Girl's High School Division record in the 800 Meter Run is 2:10.10*
*The High School Division is limited to athletes within the state of Iowa.

This gives us a reasonable benchmark that shows just how much talent Fargo South's Laura Roesler has as Iowa is a relatively strong state for track and field.

That's correct! Running 2:10 in April is amazing for a high school runner. But running a 2:08 in March is freakish.

Oops...jumped the gun a little. An athlete from Nebraska went 14' 3.5".
Brost took second.

I don't think it was a record but nonetheless, a win at Drake is a big deal. Sounds like the race was more a strategy race and thus the time is a little slower than Hermanson has been running.

When I checked the results from Drake, it shows the record was (and remains) 2:02.99 set in 2001 by Svetlana Badrankova from U of Texas.

I'll be darned. I remember Jeff. Tough to find a nicer guy. He had the sweet feathered back hair if I remember correctly.:)

Nice info! Jeff Willers daughter! I grew up a house down from Jeff in Dickinson. Played football with him and his brothers (all good athletes) in our backyard!
