Some word that Ashley Tinglestad, a product out of East Grand Forks who broke the state 2A 400 m record and also won the 200 m last year may also try to play for the women's basketball team. She is 5'10" and fast.

I thought Tingelstad was going to run track? If she does go out for bb wow, she would make a great addition to the team. I know she was a Miss BB nominee, Coach's all state, as well as the MVP for her conference. Fast and a defensive menace!!! Can she do both with a scholarship??

She is coming for track.

She's a heck of an athlete, that is for sure, but to do both would be next to impossible.

The forum article from July 5th indicates that Ashley is coming to particpate in basketball however she is not attending this summer because of the late commit she could not get financial aid in time.

Saw her play at the all star series last spring. She may have been the best athlete on the AA team. Wow, she is quick!

She is quick, but she has a pretty lanky frame. I am sure that they will want to bulk her up to play at the next level.

Hopefully not too much bulk. She is on scholarship for track and field, not basketball. Great for the basketball team and not-so-great for track fans like myself.

I didn't think Ashley was expected to be a post player.

I'd rather have her quick than bulky.

Does anyone else think it's creepy that folks are commenting on the "bulk" of a college girl?

Well, if it makes you feel better, it was actually her lack of bulk that got commented on - somebody said that Ashley was lanky (definition: tall, thin, long limbs) and would probably need to put on muscle to play DI basketball.

I have heard she had dropped bball. She felt like she was spread too thin and wasn't being fair to herself, the bball team or the track team. Felt she could make the biggest impact for the school in track. She will now focus on just track. Glad, she made the decision now. I know she has been injured all preseason.

On Saturday, in the DePaul thread, I mentioned that
there was rumored to be news coming out.
I couldn't confirm it, but what I heard was that AT had
quit the team. I still have no confirmation - but I believe
my sources were correct.
Can anyone confirm this info?

Good for her if true. Gives her a chance to focus on being great at one sport along with going to school.

Sad to see her go if indeed that's what's happening, but I, and I think everyone on this board, wish(es) her the best of luck in her career at NDSU. Even if she's not playing hoops, she's still a Bison.

I for one am glad that she made a choice with one sport. The reason she wanted to go to Concordia-St. Paul was to do both and Coach DeHoff and Coach Godfrey worked together to bring her to NDSU. Ryun will keep her at the 200 and 400 and she will be amazing. I asked him just for fun if he was going to bump her up to the 800 to try and go after Hermanson's record, but he has no intentions of doing that.
