i watched that last night. i got the fear mongering vibe that i always do from watching 60 minutes. if this was a bigger deal it wouldnt be on 60 minutes, the local news networks would be all over it making a fuss about it.

/only watched to see king james drop 3/4 court underhand shots.

yeah i know all about them, both those companies have been merged and bought out and its a different owner now.

other sites have different such programs and security then those 2 sites

the people that owned Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker both were owned by some poor tribe or something and couldn't afford much and that's why they got bought out and its a whole new group and big poker pros are on the same sites now helping run it.

Also, a funny thing i find there was a player on Ultimatebet playing against one of the guys that could see their cards and cheating, but he actually ended up beating the guy that was cheating and seeing his cards, pretty crazy how he could outplay a guy that saw his cards.

but from the most part i've stayed off of ultimatebet and also it was just in cash games but not tournaments these guys would cheat in because there was more money and quicker/easier in cash games.

it is a crazy story tho thanks for bringing it up

the ultimate bet scandal was initially broke when the tourney hand history requested revealed all the whole cards..

Russ hamilton co-owner of ultimate bet was the main culprit.. just a few clear ups..

scary how much is out there.. just try not to click on any instant messages that look suspicious.. also april 1st was mentioned as possible date however as usual with sixty minutes everything came across as blown way too far out of proportion

if i'm not mistaken tho didn't he get canned and ran off to like Puerto Rico or something down there???

Now the 2 sites have merged and have all new security and such.

also, it was when players discovered the play was bad but yet they'd still win and fold when the guy had the nuts, then they looked at hand histories??

it broke when a player who played awful and played like 95% of hands one tourney won it.. another player requested hand history and in the history all hole cards were shown and this kicked it off if im not mistaken

thats on Absolute right? because i'm pretty sure Ultimatebet had to do with cash game and didn't occur in tourneys, cuz more money was to be made in the cash games

maybe, maybe not. Here's a windows scanner you can use to look for the worm. You have to use IE and turn off pop-up blocking.

http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm

Our network guys aren't too worried. If you've been getting windows updates in March you should be fine. Here's CA's take on it if you want to know a little more about what the conflicker worm will do.

http://community.ca.com/blogs/securityadvisor/archive/2009/03/11/new-conficker-variant-not-fooling-around.aspx

And finally, if you find out that your computer is infected you can use this removal tool. Look for the conficker removal link.

no.. going on in both at same time but originally broke due to tournament

using internet explorer you are much more prone to trouble from this than u are using firefox or chrome.. at least in the years prior

I knew the mac snob would show up sooner or later.

/-j/k-I also own a mac but I prefer my windows machine.

Made me think of this for some reason.

I thought some players pooled their tracking software data together to find some funny patterns that helped with one of the two scandles also.

The only reason why Mac's seem like they are immune to viruses is because only like 5% of the total population uses Macintosh computers. So if you were a programmer who makes viruses to steal information, you would probably go after the biggest market which is PC's (windows)

I had a Mac once, but then I fixed the door so it would stay open on its own.

yes after a poster at the twoplustwo.com poker forums got this hand history a bunch of players spent months compiling info..
2+2 broke both the absolute and ultimate bet cases open
