Lost in the Big Dance excitement:

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (www.gobison.com) – Andi Padilla tossed a perfect game and North Dakota State University scored seven times in the first inning to cruise to a 14-0 five-inning victory over host UMKC in a Summit League women's softball game played Saturday, March 21, at Cleveland Park. The Bison won all three games in the series.

Padilla faced 15 batters over the five innings to record her second no-hitter of the week against UMKC (5-21, 0-6 Summit). She struck out one, issued no walks and the Bison finished with no errors. Padilla improved to 12-5 with three shutouts this season. Her 12 wins in 2009 match her win total over the past three seasons.

Padilla's diamond gem was the eighth perfect game in the program's history and first since Amber Garrett's seven-inning no-hitter against Drake on Feb. 26, 2006. Her no-hitter was the 20th in the program's history. Earlier in the week Padilla no-hit Creighton University.

Wonder if it was scheduled as a five-inning game or if a mercy rule came into play.
