AMES, Iowa - North Dakota State freshman Leslie Brost automatically qualified for the 2009 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships when she cleared 13 feet 9 1/4 inches at the NCAA Last Chance Qualifier at Iowa State on Saturday, March 7. Brost becomes only the second-ever Bison to automatically qualify for the NCAA Division I Championships.
Brost's mark of 13-9 1/4 not only automatically qualifies for the NCAA Championships, but also breaks the school record she had set earlier this year by two inches.
Brost, along with senior Laura Hermanson, an automatic qualifier in the 800 meters, will be competing at the NCAA Championships on March 13-14 in College Station, Texas.
No word yet on Jeramy Geditz and Shawn Francis who are also competing in the Last Chance Qualifier.
edit: Geditz and Francis both missed qualifying
