The Bison begin the season on Friday afternoon with a little "trial by fire" 3 game series if you will. Witchita State is a power house in college baseball. Hopefully the Bison can play well and begin getting some experience for some very young players. Coach Brown addressed Team Makers at lunch last Thursday and did a great job being brutally honest with where they are currently at, but more so addressing where they are hoping to get and what steps they are taking to get there. They have a rock solid coaching staff and hopefully the future is bright for Bison baseball. Good luck on the road guys! ;)

This is such a tough way to open the season for an inexperienced team but if they can manage to be competitive in one or two of these games it could really catapult them. Should provide good experience for the young players either way.

the series with them last year didnt go too well. hopefully they can make some improvements over last year, but thats doubtful with how young this team is.

If I remember right, WSU only has one returning starter from last years Super Regional squad and one pitcher who saw any significant innings last year. They are in major rebuilding mode so there is some huge potential to pick up a W or two if we can get into their bullpen early.

a small capsule on wsu so far this season:
-they are 2-1 with wins over temple(8 to 4) and florida gulf coast(6 to 0) and their loss against central michigan(9 to 16) (who ndsu beat last year 7-4)
-their best hitter so far is taylor brown who is 7 for 8 with 3 doubles. three other players have been offensively active so far; cody lassley, kevin hall, and ryan jones.
-their starting pitching has been strong so far but their bullpen has been a very weak point. like akbison said, getting to their bullpen could give ndsu a chance to take a game from the shockers.

youll get your double header tomorrow due to "cold weather". its 25 degrees in wichita right now with a windchill of 10. 30 mph wind gusts to boot. sounds like prime baseball weather for early april in fargo.

That's where a lack of scholarships comes into play. Its no different in college then it is in the Majors. The teams with money get the best pitchers. Only problem with college is there is no draft to get a fair shake at the best guys.
