New "Free Agent" QB on the market...

It looks like Patrick Witt is leaving Nebraska. Can't say I'm shocked on this one. He was a Callahan recruit and there were some rumblings about his attitude coming out of high school (mainly the fact that he had been to 2 or 3 high schools). For star-gazers, he was a 3-star by Rivals and the 18th rated pro-style QB. I will give Witt credit though...he throws a nice ball and he's very smart (4.0, brother plays at Harvard) and he did a lot with community service. Evidently he wants to be a starter somewhere. He has redshirted, so I wouldn't be surprised if he dropped down a level. If Threet doesn't end up here, I'd take him at NDSU.

On the positive side, this does open the door a little wider for Cody Green to come in and be a 4-year starter.

Oh, what the he!!.. My cousin knows a guy who is friends with Witt on Facebook. Supposedly this guy got a "wall to wall" message from Witt that said he was thinking about transferring to North Dakota State. It's really hush hush. :D

I've only seen Esley Thornton play in person twice. I was extremely impressed with his performance as a sophomore QB/safety for Bismarck in the 2007 state championship game. Not only was he very poised, he threw a nice ball, and he may have been the hardest hitter on the defense! I haven't seen him enough to be sure that he is D-I quarterback, but he is definitely a football player!

Yes, he's only a junior, and a hell of a basketball player as well. He wants to play football in college, we need to get a hold of him. He hasn't verballed anywhere yet. Can't let this talent escape right from under our nose.

Played against slick in a flag football game this past fall. I don't remember much about his arm strength, or accuracy for that matter, but I do remember I was able to run him down pretty easily when he was trying to scramble out of the pocket. I think he injured his foot on one play so not sure if that will continue to bother him.

My guess is slick either had a heater, a dip or both in his mouth the whole time. :)

yeah, I don't think the loafers helped his mobility during that game......in fact they may have contributed to his injury.....
