At the rate ORU is picking off teams they won't have a losing record for much longer. The team we play for Bracketbusters will also have a winning record.

Just because this is bisonville doesn't mean it's ever okay to use that reference to the Sioux people. It was very offensive, classless and disrespectful. It's one thing to make a joke reference to animals, once you start doing it with classes of people though you went too far.

Perhaps we should continue on with the running the table talk now. Lakes, I'll give you 20/1 odds, the Bison don't run the table although I would certainly love to see it though.

Being the 66th best team in the nation, can I? On a serious note, ESPN shows NIT games around the NCAA's. Chances are we would never get even a minute of time on CBS's main broadcast if we make the tourney. If we were to win the NIT, we'd be on ESPN a MINIMUM of 2 times, maybe even 3. The tourney is the tourney and an upset would be HUGE (way bigger than the NIT). All food for thought. The bottom line is that after the tourneys start it's anyone's game. Therfore, you take the NCAA's and go for the upset. We were projected to play Oklahoma last week in the 1st round. We could beat Oklahoma. They are a one dimensional team that when that kid is off, they can be beat. Win the tourney and go to the NCAA's. Thats my vote! ;)

I'd take a 40 point blowout loss in the NCAA field (trust me, we won't loose by 40) to two wins in the NIT any day and on Sunday's. There is all kinds of publicity that leads up to the NCAA tournament with national stories and Summit Championship video. The NIT just quietly starts. If our current seniors were Sophmore's now an NIT run wouldn't be bad building up to a NCAA run the follow year, but its a one shot deal for our current seniors, our best team in many years.

Also, if NDSU is playing, we will get on the air in the upper Midwest (MN, SD, ND, IA, IL, NE), and the masses will see NDSU basketball in pubs all over the country. You can count on it.

I think our team is really building, and with good recruiting we will continue to have good teams (maybe better than 2009), but our profile need an NCAA shot in the arm.

I also would choose the NCAA Tournament. People always talk about upsets in the Big Dance (Valpo over OlMiss, Hampton over Iowa St, all the Gonzaga teams) If we make it and win a game it'll be remembered forever and brought up every year. Sure there's upsets in the NIT, but who cares. Lakes always talks about publicity, whether good or bad, well think about it if we make it to the NCAA tournament, for the duration of the tournament, we are in every major newspaper in the country, people will gamble on us. If we even make the game close people will talk about us and talk about how great this Bison player did or how Saul coached a great game. Win or lose, the Bison NCAA tournament will be the biggest sporting event in this state....until we make again next year and the year after that and so on and so forth lol!!!

Let's be real here. We are 14-5, with 5 of the next 7 at home. I expect to be 21-5 or 20-6 at the end of this stretch . . . and that is just being relatistic. We will not goto OT in Fargo against the Jacks, and can get W's at WIL & IPI. IPI is trending down.

So at 21-5 or 20-6, there are 3 games left. BrBust, @Cent, @ORU. ORU will want to, very badly, avenge their last 2 losses to NDSU. Therefore I expect a record of . . .

Best Case 24-5
Most Likely 22-7
Worst Case 20-9

Heading into Tourney. Will have the #1 or #2 seed with W at home vs. Oakland. That is reality, and not a bad season. The tournament is everything however.

Just curious, but is there enough bridge room in Fargo-Moorhead for would be jumpers in the event the Bison don't win the Summit Tournament?
Perhaps there will be enough Red River flooding by then to accomadate everyone. Being the top seed will definately make it easier, but just think of how many nervous wrecks will be on the GDT during the championship game (myself included!) Well, first things first, I guess.....gotta get into the championship game.

I think we'll be okay. The National Weather Service is predicting a 90% chance of major flood damage for Fargo this year. With the Red about 20 miles wide, I think we can find room for them all. We can grab some flooded I-29 overpasses to serve as bridges if all else fails.

The Bison are an impressive group. Woodside and Winkelman are amazing. Woodside, in particular, seems to be able to take over a game whenever he decides he needs to. Nelson had a sub-par game for him at SDSU, but he's also a great player. I don't know if the Bison can run the table, but I'll be rooting for them to do it. Good luck.

While I'm at it, the other thing I like about the Bison is that they're a classy bunch. No whining. No heads shaking after calls. They just go out and play and win like they've done it all before. I enjoyed watching them play last night in Brookings.

Really not sure how seriously this thread is supposed to be taken, but for the record:

1. ORU is currently 11-11 on the year, and will definitely have a winning record when NDSU comes to town.

2. Winning that game could very well give ORU a fifth straight conference regular season title, the No. 1 Seed in the conference tournament, and a guaranteed bid in the NIT.

3. ORU will likely be riding a 34-game conference home winning streak, dating back to 2005.

4. That night is our "Senior Night", which is always one of our largest crowds of the year.

5. Dating back twelve seasons and two coaches, ORU is undefeated in conference games on Senior Night.

See ya on the 28th. :)

I'd be the first to wish you bad luck against OU this Thursday. I don't think we will beat you there and a loss by ORU will barring another loss than the one at your house tie us for the title. How does the tie breaker go? If we split do they go margin of victory next??? ;)

Most points by a single player in 1 game this year.....that would be Woody :D

PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ryan Toolson, Utah Valley

It took four overtimes for the Utah Valley senior guard to score a school-record 63 points and lead his squad to a 123-121 win at Chicago State. He also scored 22 points in a loss to Cal State-Bakersfield.

ORU needs to win in Oakland before NDSU travels to Tulsa. I'm not giving ORU that win. If you watched ORU vs Oakland earlier this year on DTV, Oakland had ORU and choked it away, losing in OT.

I think they will loose on the road at Oakland and be 1 game back going into the final game.

Ok, well if ended up tied the way I see it playing out, we would both have split with Oakland then then run the table against all the rest. Therefore, there has to be another way to decide it. I am guessing it is margin of victory in our head to head games. ;)

After record against next best team the tiebreaker is RPI.

1. Utah valley isn't in our conference
2. no one in our conference has beat it
3. His isn't isn't recorded because the team is in transition (if i recall correctly)

I hope you guys are # one. If you are, I wouldn't mind being the 8 seed. I (and I'm sure the team) would love to knock you guys out in the first round:)

If we run the table, we're actually 25-5 in the eyes of the selection committee, because of useless wins over Mayville and Valley City.

Stolen from the book of labiticus

The thing is, a legitimate run at the field of 65 almost requires a #1 seed going into the Summit. Winning the tounament from the #2 is possible, but more likely from the #1. Getting the #1 seed almost requires that we run the table, other than the meaningless Milwaukee game. So, running the table talk, meaning 24-5, isn't so stupid afterall. Then, you win 3 Summit Tounament games, yes necessary to make the field of 65, lands you at 27-5. So what's so out of line about running the table? Its almost necessary if you want the #1 seed. It may not happen, but it might.

Run table? So much for that....seriously I hated this thread because it created some idiotic expectation that just completely took away from everything that was important...not to mention that fact that it was just a slap in the face to every opponent we have on the schedule. Well tonight we got slapped and I hope a few posters took notes. Thankfully running the table never meant jack as far our real goals are concerned. The only table we will ever need to run is in Sioux Falls.

Hopefully the team takes this loss and uses it as one final reminder that they are by no means unbeatable and you have to bring it on every night. Our defensive intesity was a bit lacking but at the same time you have to give credit to SUU for hitting some big shots. No doubt they were the better team tonight. I still like our chances of winning the league title and in Sioux Falls but lets enjoy the ride and take it one game at a time.

For those that still don't realize it. We are in the 1st place in the league, nothing changed after losing one game.

Tonite was crap,,,,,that screwed us!!! running the table.would of legitimized us in the eyes of college bball nation and the seeding comittee....now we'll be lucky.to get 14 seed ...... when we coulda been 25-5 + 12 seed on a 19-20 game winning streak ... Dammit!!!!!!

Well I didn't want them to lose, but I think this just might have been the best thing for them right now. Get the loss out of the way now and start fresh and not have to worry about it when it got down to tournament time. I know I will probably be thrown under the bus with this response but I just think it was the best time to lose a game.
