Heard it last night on the news but didn't have a chance to post.

"WDAY 6 Sports has learned that the former Bison punter will sign a future reserve contract, meaning that Drago will attend the Browns OTA's (offseason-training activities) and mini-camps and fight for a spot."

""Good for him. Hes got his foot in the door. PL""

Hopefully, like we all know he can do, is get his 'foot on the ball' and boom the crap out of it. Like the Drago we know.

I wish him the best of luck.

Booming punts impresses the NFL guys much less than it impresses us. To stick at the NFL level, you need to control direction and distance. Drago should be better prepared for his next shot. At fall camp, he was working on shortening his motion and also learning to get more control. Not the best situation for impressing the staff.

Congrats on both accounts!!!

Good to see he's getting a chance with the Browns, even though Cleveland is the armpit of the United States.

I'd vote for either Philly or D.C. Just gotta get the big contract and live in the burbs.

Congrats Drago. Will be interesting to see you in the orange, white and brown. At least I don't have to worry about the Browns choking yearly :-D. Unlike the Vikings who choke every year and are about to do it again my Browns are usually finished at midseason. Again congrats Drago and have fun in the Dawg Pound.

Nope, if he was on the active roster there would be a chance. But since he is on the practice squad, he won't play.

It appears you may be mistaken...........from the Browns team website.........

"Mike Dragosavich, who was signed Friday and participated in the team's final practice of the season. He can be activated as late as 4 p.m. Saturday."

some funny stuff on brown's message board.

CLEVELANDS PAPER

Zastudil ailing: Punter Dave Zastudil was limited in practice Friday with tendinitis in his right knee, the plant leg, and is listed as questionable. He punted great with the sore leg last week against the Bengals, but battled through the pain.

For insurance, the Browns signed rookie punter Mike Dragosavich to the practice squad. Dragosavich (6-5, 190) was signed by the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State in May and was waived in June. At North Dakota State, he punted 158 times for 7,025 yards and finished as the school's career leader with a 44.5 average

So, any idea what the prospects are for next season?

Zastudil is under contract through 2010 for whatever that is worth in this league, but I think his signing bonus was several million dollars ($500,000 was applied to the cap in 2008) so wouldn't whatever is left have to be taken against the cap ($1 million?) if they cut him?

You guys have probably seen this from In-Forum:

CLEVELAND – Quarterbacks Ken Dorsey and Bruce Gradkowski, who both started games for Cleveland last season, were cut by the Browns on Monday.

Also released was former North Dakota State standout punter Mike Dragosavich. Dragosavich was signed late in the year as a backup punter.

Dorsey was the club’s third-string quarterback but had to make three starts after the Browns lost Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn to season-ending injuries. He injured his ribs and sustained a mild concussion in a Dec. 21 loss at Cincinnati, forcing the club to sign Gradkowski for the season finale against Pittsburgh.

The Browns also terminated the contracts of linebacker Antwan Peek, cornerback Terry Cousin, kicker Jason Reda and offensive lineman Eric Young.

Seattle has Jon Ryan under contracts for, I think $500,000 in 2009. Ryan is a servicable kicker at that number so it's going to be tough for Drago there.

The Vikings should be on the top of the list. Klewe is both terrible and expensive. I wouldn't count of the Vikings front office being aware of this fact though, let alone acting on it.

The Redskins also stunk but Plackenmier had the rare virture (for the 'Skins anyway) of being cheap.

Kluwe is the highest paid punter in the league. The Vikings shelled out $5 million (SI.com) for what exactly? Putting aside the fact that there isn't a worse place to spend money than on a punter, here's what they got for their money:

The 30th best net average in the league. The 30th best touchback percentage in the league. The 17th best inside the 20 percentage in the league. The 6th best Gross average in the league.

That's a replacement level effort with an all-pro price tag.

He was better in 2007 but still not worth the $$$.
