That is about all I can break right now. He is on campus.

Averages 11 and 6 right now for Northern Colorado. 6'6 Small Forward. Because he is transferring at semester, there could be some transfer issues....

"Yeah, Saul.....Lakes is on hold for you."

"Don't tell him anything...."

He is an amazing athlete. Crazy hops, and not super thin. The website could be out of date on his weight.

Looks like an athlete...something that is needed in the 3 & 4 spot.

He is already a junior eligibility-wise. I assume he would have to sit out a full year--until January 2010 and would then only have 1.5 years to play.

"University of Northern Colorado guard/forward Jefferson Mason has decided to transfer out of the men’s basketball program and is leaving school entirely at the end of the semester.

No specifics were given of Mason’s reasons for leaving the team. UNC players were asked by UNC coach Tad Boyle not to comment on the departure.

However, Boyle did release a statement to The Tribune saying it was Mason’s decision and the team wished him well.

“We wish Jefferson nothing but the best in all his future endeavors,” Boyle said. “We appreciate all the contributions he’s made to help us rebuild Northern Colorado men’s basketball in the short time the coaching staff has been here.”

Mason, a a 6-foot-6 junior, started all six games for the Bears. He was fourth on the team in scoring, averaging 9.7 points per game and was the team’s second-leading rebounder at 5.8 per game.

Last season, Mason started 17 games and was third on the team in scoring at 9.4 per game.

Mason was in his third season at UNC.."

Mason played at Robbinsdale Cooper on a team that suprised everybody and I think made it to the state finals. Current Iowa Starter Jermaine Davis was also on the team, as was one time NDSU recruiting prospect Dennis Williamson, and a young freshman named Rodney Williams, who is now a senior and one of the top players in the country.

Looks like an athletic perimeter player.

Led his team in steals last season. He will add a benefit by running with the scout team for the rest of this season. His length and quickness will push our starters on the perimeter by simulating some of the better guards they compete against in the conference.

Well, roadwarrior has added Mason to the roster for next year in this thread: http://www.bisonville.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13062

Mason should provide immediate help for next year. Even if he has to sit out the first semester he'll be ready for the Summit Conference games.

Wouldn't be so quick to add Mason to the roster, hearing Mankato or Winona may be more likely destinations.

he can not transfer here.....he already played this year! so he has to sit out a year. and as he is a jr. no elgibility left unless he transfers down. to d2 as in winnona or whatever

Just to clarify. He is not going to be a Bison. If he transferred here....he would have to sit out the rest of his Sophomore year, and all of his Junior year. He could then play as a senior. Not worth it for either party. Too bad. He really wanted to play here. Sounded like a very good kid. I think Mankato is his destination. He will be fantastic there.

There was a chance that he would sit out one calendar year and be ready at this time next year....and be able to play in conference play for two years. That didn't turn out.

Why didn't it turn out that he could just have the calendar year to sit out? Anybody know?
