SDSU beat Centenary 63-41 tonight (Thursday). The Jackrabbits played terribly...so, Centenary deserves its poor ranking. Good luck on Saturday.

Bison win 87-40. Was hoping they could hold Centenary to less than 40 points but Herd was fouling a bit when they played man defense.

Observations from Bison Vision:

hard to judge the motion offense against a team as bad as Centenary. This offense obviously favors the guards. Scoring break down:

Hodgson 19 points (7-8 including 5-6 three pointers)
Plucker 17
Smith 15
Birkel 13.

In contrast:

Samuelson was scoreless and had one board. Both Zaruba and Penley had 8 points but they scored most of those very late and at the line. DeHoff may have been utilizing the second half to run the offense more through the post players to give them some expereince.

the motion offense has the posts setting perimeter screens to free up the guards who then drive and do the pull up jumper or dish out to another perimeter player. Birkel is great at driving and pulling up to hit her sho. Hodgson did this a few times as well, but Birkel is good at this. Smith had some nice pull ups and looked pretty comfortable out there.

Plucker is extremely athletic. She's strong and has enough body control to get her shots off...she collected 4 offensive boards today.

Birkel is just really fast. Both with and without the ball.

Zaruba was on the perimeter defending in the man to man defense. She created difficulty in the passing lanes.

Again...all this is against Centenary so hard to get a good perspective.

Penley would have had 16 or more if she could have made a shot from within 3 feet of the hoop. Very off day for her!

Great pull up jumpers by Smith.

just got back from the game. Centenary has to be the worst college basketball team I have EVER seen! They should have probably only scored 20, however the refs were calling some rediculous calls and they got their free throws.

Jerri and Jill did an amazing job on defense today! Skye and Nicole definately are starting to step up and make some plays too!Overall not too exciting of a game, but we got a win so I am not complaining!

FYI heard Trekker sprained both of her ankles or something like that...

So she missed a few shots, she made 8 of 9 free throws and did great on defense. Plus did you see the cheap shots that the other girls were pulling on her?

Im not sure how much you can take from this game considering how bad they were. I think the girls at halftime could beat them. But a win is a win

You have to play well to win by 47 even if it is a poor team.

I heard they were not that bad. Sources told me that she finished out practice but i am guessing she didnt play because they were being cautious. No sense having her play on sore ankles when obviously she was not needed today. Especially with only nine players when she is healthy.
