pathetic schedule.!!

Where's

NEBRASKA, KANSAS??
*****, IOWA??
CRIEGHTON?

These are all great baseball teams that we have to compete against for recruits !!!

they were on schedules in the past... sad, in my opinion...

hopefully they get to play some top notch teams when theyre down in florida.

From what I understand the tournament in Florida will consist of "mid-majors" so they can be competitive against each other rather than playing southern teams right away in the season. Also, come on lakes Iowa State does not have a baseball team... I thought someone as intelligent as yourself would know that! You may think the schedule looks pathetic, but the last four years have been brutal playing 3-4 Big 12 teams to start off the season. No one wants to go get dump trucked for the first 20 games of the season. After the first month two years ago the baseball team had the 8th hardest RPI in the country. An easier schedule early in the season is just one of the many good things Coach Brown will bring to this program.

Its nice that all of the conference road games are early, and all of the home games are late in the schedule. Better chance that the snow will be gone from Newman Outdoor.

Now here's a sport where scheduling UND makes sense...maybe well get more than 50 people to the game.

I couldn't agree with you more about scheduling UND. The last time we played them it was a record setting crowd at the time...

it would make a lot of sense to schedule UND in baseball

shut up about UND.. we DIDNT schedule them. and WE WONT.

record crowd is for MINNESOTA.

April 22, 2009 will be a RECORD CROWD.. especially with Eric Decker in left field and our fball players talkin smack to him and watching john anderson get kicked out AGAIN!!

coldspot

playing und would have more fan appeal and exposure for the baseball team than playing some of the small local schools on the schedule. 1,000+ people and oodles of media coverage for a game against an old rival or 100-200 people tops and the score scrolling across the bottom of the screen on the news for a game against an naia school?

Largest Home Crowds (since 1997)
1,019 Minnesota 5-3-2006
922 Minnesota 4-26-2005
868 North Dakota 4-27-2004

Like I said... largest crowd at the time. When we play teams like VCSU and Mary we generally have very small crowds and the visiting teams generally have had more fans than NDSU at the game. Those games are virtually pointless to play especially when we lose...that's just embarrassing for everyone.

I can see why we have to play some of those teams though for baseball, we desperately need home games and they only get about a month and a half to be able to play up here.

Lakesbison I didn't know that you were also in charge of scheduling now.

If you look there are only 5 dates non conference. Concordia, Dakota State, Mayville State, and the Goofers twice. Just perhaps there was not a date that could be arranged.

With this schedule, maybe we can get to .500 or better. After a couple years of .300 ball, it's hard to argue with this schedule. Learn to win, then improve the schedule. That's the recipe.

In my opinion, the schedule is just fine. I'd like to see some better regional games in coming years, but it looks good for 2009. You never know, we might just have some wins and confidence going into Conference play.

The thing I like, 20 home games . . . that is a breath of fresh air for the team! Lots of games at home in April should be great for the fans too. Let's hope the early winter calls off the dogs for an early spring.

Besides our home Conf games each year, it would be great to replace Concordia, Mayville or Dak St. with North Dakota, Creighton, Drake, Iowa, Iowa St., NE, etc . . . trying hard to get someone to travel up to Fargo each year to enjoy our beatiful statdium. Keep the MN game going, that's a great one each year.

As for UND, baseball/softball would be good sports to start up next year with them to ensure some well attended home games. I'm still on the fence for FB & BB, but we should play in baseball, no question about it.
