North Dakota State senior Jerri Penley is not a geometry major, but the difference between last year and this year is easy to calculate.
“About 180 degrees,” she said.
The Bison open their season tonight at the Bison Sports Arena against Northern Iowa with more new looks than a hairstyle magazine. About the only mainstay is Penley, a
6-foot-2 center who has worked herself into being one of the top inside players in The Summit League.
She was second in the conference last year in blocked shots per game at 2.8 and, if the Bison counted in the national statistics, she would have been 10th among all Division I players. NDSU was in the final year of its Division I reclassification and therefore was not included.
