Herd not racking up a lot of assists so hard to assess the half game attack. Bison are scoring on second chance points and points of TOs.

Carlson is emerging as a strong scoring option. It will be interesting to see if he can do this against D I foes. Flowers is a strong rebounder and scored a lot from the line.

I don't remember the exact score but I wanna say Bison won by 30. Flowers looks real good and appears to have some moves down low, granted it was only University of Mary.

Some thoughts on the first half.

- Winks, Nelie, Woodside... all will be fine.

- Moorman looked like he could move again, much quicker of foot not lumbering around. Still some of those "oh come on" mistakes, but it was nice to see him being more active.

- Flowers looked pretty good. Good body positioning, good timing, long arms, looked like a ball player, decent looking free throws, and activity. Had game face on instead of joking around look, which was good to see. All in all was better than hoping for after seeing the midnight madness. Not another dre here, but a very good asset to team, should be able to get put backs, occasional hook shot, make some free throws and get rebounds. Again, against this competition looked good.

- Carlson looked much slower and tired than last year, hopefully the extra 25 lbs didn't slow him down. Still was playing solid. By the stats second half improved much, so hopefully more active then.

- Coleman looked more like a basketball player vs. athlete which was nice to see. As such made some nice plays.

- Team as a whole looked fairly deep, about 10 guys looked like they belonged out there.

- By sounds of radio in the second half Nagal was putting on the D.

So, I am not a born and bred basketball fan. But I am a Bison Fan, so I decided to get tix and do it right this year. Just went to a few games and read about it in the papers last year. I glad I am going the games. So worth it.

Flowers looked really good. Was really impressed.

Final Score: 80-40

Flowers will be our fifth starter soon IMO... he looked great, nice moves down low, plays physical, good on the boards, and has a nice little hook shot goin.

Impressed by Carlson as well, both him ans Flowers are huge additons for us.

Both sides of the floor looked great tonight at times, but had spurts that looked mediocre and stagnant. But it's just an exhibition game.

Overall, I am excited for this season. This team is going to be good, they have all the pieces to the puzzle.

I couldn't agree more. Tveit was more comfortable coming off the bench last year anyway. Tveit 6th man, Carlson 7th man................my oh my. ;)

It's amazing what a year can do. These guys did not impress me at the Late Show, but they totally redeemed themselves tonight. I know it was preseason, but things were definitely clicking tonight. Have I told anyone how excited I was for this season??? :D ;)

riley looked better, all the rest the same i would say. really tough to say with one game, but riley looked good on the board and defensively, sussenguth didn't really even play much or wasn't much of a factor, pennick still solid defensively, vaughan looked the same, coleman kinda struggled tonight. but take this with a grain of salt, it's just one game and it was an exhibition game vs. Mary. I am expecting all of them to be improved esp. with them all fighting for playing time this season.

Thanks everyone! It's going to be tough sledding for playing time amongst this group, the 7-12 guys. If Riley is active, he has a big upside.

Are Nelson and Vaughan waiting for the games to count, decide to rest their shooting arms?

I agree about these two. How deep are we this year???? A man who got his own nick name (the Goose) and a lock down defender who got significant PT in the past didn't get in until the last 10 minutes of the game. Thats how loaded we are people. The Goose and AP will see very limited minutes this year. Not a bad problem to have! ;)

I was gonna say about Riley, he looked pretty good last night, better than I have seen most games from him. He played a good chunk of the 2nd half and looked more agressive inside. His free throw shooting seemed to impriove as well. (I don't remember seeing him make a FT last year) Pennick looked meh, Suss looked decent for the time he was out there. I was surprised at our walk-ons, Nagel and Caleb whatshisname. Best performances from end-bench guys I have seen in a long time.

 Nagel most certainly is not a walk-on  In fact, if he went to another school like SDSU they probably wouldn't even red shirt him. ;)

Start Tveidt for now. We have a ton of scoring with our starting five like it was last night. Carlson and Flowers coming in at the 4/5 spot is really good. Carlson did NOT look slow of foot by any stretch last night. Those two kids looked GREAT. Carlson has a knack for scoring. He is smooth around the rim. Keep in mind the competition last night, and trying to stay motivated while not embarrassing a team that is about as good as Fargo South. Hard to really want to beat a team with such a great coach like Juno. They are friends and I know we didn't want to win by 60...but we could have. Wait, Winks could have had 60. Nobody smoother. This team is looking fantastic. Can't wait for signing day, can't wait for Drew to be ready for next year, Nagle next year....the future is bright. Back to my main point. Tveidt will play great defense, run the court, rebound, and doesn't need to score to be effective. He plays a great floor game. He can come leave the game with Nellie and Freddy and Carlson can come in. Offense/defense type substitutions.
