I am a second year student here and I would like to know the words to Hail the Bison. I have heard parts of it in the past but yesterday when I was standing in line for tickets, I head some students singing parts I have never heard.

I may be wrong, as I've never actually gone to school at NDSU, but what I heard is that:

On the plains of North Dakota
Standing there for all to see,
Is an old abandoned outhouse
And they call it UND

Hail the Bison, Hail the Bison
With their tails up in the air
University, University
You can kiss what's under there!

This is the one I learned when I was a student at NDSU. It is also the one I have taught my children (as well as some non-UND fans!)

PL has the original...it was basically changed. When the change happened is lost in legend. Only Lakes knows, since he coined both versions.

And why would the students want to sing a song acknowledging a former opponent that is not played in football. Or will not be played for at least another 4 years.

We declared over the weekend, NDSU will play the other school first when hockey, then the other sports can follow. And since there will be no hockey at NDSU, the issued is solved :)
