UNI defeats Nicholls State 34-14 last night

It looks like Nicholls State put up a decent fight after being knotted at 14 through most of the 3rd quarter. UNI then scored a pair of TDs and a pair of FGs for the win at the UNI dome.

Why does Nicholls only play 9 games? It's october and they had only played 1 game prior to this and that wasn't until 9/20. Bye weeks galore to start their season.

They had one game postponed (or even canceled) due to Hurrican Ike, I believe.

They had one game postponed (or even canceled) due to Hurrican Ike, I believe.

Two games(New Mexico State and Bowie State(DII)) and Hurricane Gustav. The game at NMSU was canceled because it was scheduled for three days after Gustav made US landfall and classes had already been canceled and the campus evacuated. The Bowie State game was canceled because of damage to the stadium's lighting due to Gustav. Two of the light poles were structurally unsound and there was not enough time to fix or remove them.
