THE RETURN OF THE HERD!
As the October sun rose across the prairie sky;
The past week left all the fans contemplating BYE.
A distant and low rumble was heard as if from down under;
It was the start of the mighty and powerful HERD thunder.
The Bison were a bit battered and had taken some hard shots;
But the Bison and the fans believed that today the Herd was hot.
The Dogs were in town visiting the Bison’s impressive Fargodome;
The Bison planned on pounding the Salukis and sending them home.
You see BYE was just the right team last week to play;
The Bison of old were back after that minor delay.
It was homecoming for all at NDSU;
A special day for friends, alums and me and you.
The tailgaters filled the lots with food, beer and grills;
The fans talked with great excitement of the upcoming thrills.
As game time drew near all headed inside to their favorite chair;
Even the Dome Nazis knew this day was one they had to be fair.
As the kickoff came the sound of thunder was all about;
The Bison began and Lennon prepared for the rout.
For this day was the HERDS and Dogs were whining all game;
And at the half Lennon limped for the locker room as if in pain.
The second half for the BISON was even better yet;
The HERD was on track it was as good as it could get!
Score after score the Bison drubbed Lennon’s team;
Lennon, Welcome to DI, you have lost your steam.
As the Salukis walked weakly from the field that day;
Lennon knew The Thundering Herd was in FCS to stay.
In the polls and the playoffs the Herd would be found;
Dominating FCS Football, the Bison were destiny bound!
