Second week in a row where it appeared to me we were the more talented team and lost. That's very frustrating. It's almost like the football gods are conspiring to keep us forever out of the playoffs. The last two years we would have easily been in but were ineligible. Now we're FINALLY eligible and the injuries and underperformance of the 90s are back. If we win out we're still in the playoffs but at this point, it would be absolutely shocking for us to win out.

I cant believe you guys the season is not over! Sure Mertens threw 4 ints. but our D couldnt stop the run. Did you guys think the MVFC would be a cake walk! I thought we were a little overrated going into this season however I knew we could come out on top. But were playing the toughest schedule EVER. MVFC has REAL football teams in it and Youngstown is a good team. I say we go 9-2 this year, I think homecoming is going to be tough as hell but we'll come out on top and the huge support of Bison at the UNI Dome is going to get them pass. Everyone will be well rested for homecoming. SDSU is still going to be the toughest game of the year, there due to win in Fargo cause its been like 40 years since they won in fargo.

So far the only thing to judge this year's team is two wins over essentially glorified DII teams, a loss to a FBS team that most top 10 FCS teams would take care of, and a loss to a team barely ranked in the top 25 (that was absolutely taken to the woodshed by a team ranked below NDSU).

NDSU should be ranked 15-17.

I'm not well versed enough to know exactly where the Bison stand so far as top 10 schools go... However, I do agree that people should not be fair-weather fans. People shouldn't give up on the players we have now, nor keep crying for the players no longer with the Herd. It's a team we all love-- not just when they are winning... and though it's fair to be disappointed when they lose, "quit whining."

beer is still flowing great just hang out with your best buds and drink and have a good time we got 2 weeks to prepare to take the rest of the MVFC down...and it goes to show you we need T-Roehl let him rest....but this game reminds me of the SDSU last year...we didn't play that great and still had a shot to come back and win this game in the end...does show a lot about our team that they'll fight til the game is over gotta be proud bout our bison.....I am not happy with mertens, but hey he'll pan out let him get settled and we'll be fine with roehl playing the whole game...he's our train we need to ride that train into december......

I have to agree. 4 games gone. Not much time left. They are going to have to come together on a consistant basis. You cant ride on the coat taile of a few players. After this game I have three questions...
-Why did Roehl sit for so long?
-What happend with the defesnive gameplan? Did the coaches get the wrong film or what?
-What happend with Mertens, specifically on those 4 ints and how do you fix that?

56 carries for 340 yards, it wasn't that they gave up so many yards it was the way in which it happened. It was like we had never seen that kind of offense before, even though we played against the spread 3 times last year and I assume we were preparing for it all week long.

If I am correct they benched the QB after that loss and went with the guy the had in there tonight as he was more of a run threat and opened up their offense. I believe their old starting qb even quite the team withing the last few weeks.

GOB1SON was spot on earlier in this thread...... the d has trouble against the run when playing against spread offenses..... I think the only they had not trouble with was the gophers......lol .... the gophers were to far behind to run the ball so that doesnt say much..... a little different scheming and they will get it

Their top RB(at least vs NDSU) did not play vs. SDSU. Also the QB NDSU faced was in the game against SDSU starting late in the second quarter.

I do have one final comment and I will put this one behind me.

Why did we come out so darn flat tonight? After the second half of the Wyo game, I really thought the boys would come out fired up, ready to kick some butt. I am sure the coaches used last week to "fire up" the men, but it seems like they didn't respond.

Instead, they let YSU get a ton of momentum (both sides of the ball are to blame, don't stop the run and throw it to the other team) and then when they did get a little mojo back, it was already too late.

This concerns me, that we didn't "learn" from last week and it doesn't seem like the troops were properly motivated by the loss.

Just my two cents.
