I figured that this would be a good place to post the first NCAA RPI report.

Quick note:

The Jacks could wrap up a conference tournament berth with two wins this weekend.

NDSU joins the ranks of those eliminated from the conference tourney with a 5-1 loss to Oakland today. The Bison finish their season at WIU this Saturday.

SDSU, Oakland and IUPUI have all secured berths in the four team tournament, while SUU and WIU are competing for the final spot. I don't think any of the seeding has been locked in yet.

Bison end season with a 2-3 loss to WIU. I think SDSU has claimed the #1 seed for the Summit League tournament and SUU has claimed the #4. The #2 & #3 seeds will be determined by the Cent/IUPUI match tomorrow. IUPUI will probably end up with the #2 seed and Oakland will get the #3.

Tournament seeding was wrapped up yesterday. Oakland is the #1 seed due to their win against SDSU. SDSU sits at #2 and IUPUI at #3. Southern is #4 in the seeding.

But what if IUPUI beats Centenary tomorrow(like they should). That would create a three-way tie between SDSU, Oakland & IUPUI with each team beating another. How do they determine seeding then? I assumed it would be through overall records.

Head to head records get the first nod.
IUPUI 1-1 - Win Oakland, loss at SDSU
SDSU 1-1 - Win IUPUI, loss at Oakland
Oakland 1-1 - Win SDSU, loss at IUPUI

2nd would be goal differential
Oakland Goals for: 23 Goals against: 6
SDSU Goals for: 16 Goals against: 2
IUPUI Goals for 11 Goals against: 5

Thanks; the first post has been updated. Are the seeding rules available on the Summit League website? I've looked, but I've never been able to find them.

I'm not sure. I have the tie breaker procedures memorized from interviews with the coaching staff.

The Jacks come in as a 13th seed with a decent shot at being competitive and winning this matchup. The teams will play in the Twin Cities on Friday. A huge step for the Summit League, I believe no team has been higher than a 16th seed for soccer.

Congrats to the rabbits. They have played very well this year and deserved the title. Ouch it hurts to say that:D .
On the other hand Blue, I must question your journalistic integrity here. JK :)
There are only 16 seeded teams in the entire bracket, 4 per quadrant. Everyone else is seeded by geography to keep travel costs to a minimum. The seeded teams generally get the lowest ranked team of the four in the first two rounds but that is it. The fact that you are playing a 4 seed team just means you are the lowest ranked team of the 4 playing in Minneapolis.
The MidCon/Summit history in the tournament is fairly short and undistinguished. No MidCon team participated until the field was expanded to 64 teams in 2001 and the autobid was introduced. In the seven tournaments since then Oakland has played in 5, Valpo 1 and ORU 1 losing all 7 times. Of those 7 first round games only one was against a #1 seed when Oakland got hammered by Notre Dame in 2006. Two were against #2 seeds, one #3, and three were against unseeded teams.
Having said all that I think the Jacks have a shot at getting the Summit's first tournament win. Colorado plays a very similar direct style to the Jacks, got physically beat up in the Big 12 tournament, and will be missing their best player Nikki Marshall who has left for USA U20 duty as I understand it. If your keeper stays hot and you get a break or two you have a shot.

The win was the first by any SDSU team in any Division I championship tournament, the first by a Summit League team in the women’s soccer and marked the first time since 2006 that a seeded team was beaten in the first round. The Buffaloes (14-5-4) were seeded fourth in the Notre Dame Region of the 64-team field.

The Jacks (15-4-1) – who were not eligible for the Division I postseason until this year –will face either Minnesota or Marquette in the second round at 1 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul.

Wow! That's amazing! Great for SDSU and (more importantly to me) great for the Leauge.
