That is a great story. Sometimes ones actions speak volumes about ones character. That would have been a good story even if it wasn't the only home run that girl had ever hit but to be her one and only homerun makes the story great!!!! If you are just looking at this thread and didn't read the story make sure you go back and take a gander.

That was great.

So, if I read the rules clarification correctly on the side of the article, they could have sent in a pinch runner who could have completed the home run? That certainly doesn't diminish the great act, just curious. The rule looked like it was specifically from a women's softball rule book. Anyone know if it is the same in baseball?

If they put in a pinch runner the home run would have become a 2 run single as she was unable to run past second.

Actually that is the way it was ruled by the umps during the game but they were wrong as the clarification that Trim refers to states they could have put someone in to finish the awarded bases.

I have no clue Trim what the baseball rule is though.

This was a great story though and made it on the evening news last night and was on the morning shows today.

Video from the MLB site. The three players involved were recognized as they threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a recent Seattle Mariners game.
