Just a discussion here.... but Could these 3 No Dak kids place in Minnesota State Wrestling?

Im very familiar with Minnesota Wrestling being in the highway 10 corridor myself, Im friends with Paynesville and GreenBush coaches and with the Apple Valleys, and Simley's and teams in the cities, how would these 3 compete in Minnesota for titles??

help me out, people.

Yes they could..... Bismarck wrestling has had kids wrestle D1 over the years. And also many have wrestled for Bucky also. The Steiner twins wrestled for Iowa and Dan Gable back 15 years ago. Both were national champions for the Hawkeyes.

Glasser (Bismarck) wrestles for the Gophs and he was doing great until he hurt his knee.

There was another young man from Bismarck that wrestled at Oregon State. I just can't remember his name. I believe he was a 177 pounder?

Chad Renner, early nineties? Believe he graduated from BHS in 1991.

Tyler Johnson won the prestigous MN Christmas Tournament with ease and was a National Runner Up at High School Nationals. Justin Solberg was a Junior National RunnerUp and took 3rd this year at high school nationals. They are both ranked in the country. I hope that answers your question as far as the two being competitive in Minnesota.

Come to think of it, Troy Sabot went out that way, too (Century, mid-late 90s or so). He was a lot lighter than 177 though, if I remember correctly.

While we're on the topic of BHS wrestlers, Shannon Brewster ('92) passed away a year ago this month and Darin Giese ('92) passed away about a month ago, I believe in West Virginia.

Darin was a beast and ended up wrestling at Nebraska. He was a true fan of the chicken wing back in high school.

Wasn't there a couple BHS ATHLETES TO WRESTLE AT NEBRASKA?

Yeah. I want to say three back in the mid-nineties. Darin is the only one that I remember for sure. Ben Berogan was one?

Jeremy Welder wrestled 126 for Nebraska, Darien Giese wrestled 118 for Nebraska, Ryan Bauer also wrestled for Nebraska. Ben Berogan I think wrestled for UND and Troy Sabot was a 126 wrestler for Oregon State where Ryan Kringlie and Chad Renner also wrestled.

All I know is Bismarck has a very successful program over 30 plus years. Did they not hold the national dual meet record string at one time also?

Mark Erickson of Roseau, MN will be joining the Bison next year. He placed 6th and 2nd in the State Tournament and will probably fit in around 141.

He was seeded something like 5th and shocked a few kids. The Rams have a great program and they make em tough up[ there.

I didn't realize they had wrestling at Roseau. I thought they all played hockey up there. Northern Minnesota wrestling I think of down the road at Greenbush. Any way Welcome Mark to NDSU+++

Tyler Wells from Flathead High School in Montana signed a letter of intent to wrestle for NDSU next year. He was a state champion this year at 152 and runner up last year at 152. His team ran away with the state title and was ranked 10th in the nation in the latest national poll. Flathead High School is in Kalispell, MT.
