UMKC has added women's soccer to their program. They have hired a head and assistant coach from Kent State. They will start play in fall 2009. It is nice to see conference mates moving forward.

With SUU adding volleyball, also in 2009, this will make 8 sports in which all 10 Summit League schools partcipate. Among other things, it should improve travel schedules. If we would add women's tennis and ORU would add softball, the list would bump to 10 sports.

Considering the success of their baseball team, I'm always surprised that Oral Roberts doesn't have softball.

Southern Utah recently added women's golf in addition to volleyball. They needed to get up to speed for the Summit, but also to make themselves more attractive to the Big Sky. All they need now is men's tennis to have all the Big Sky's 'core' sports. Needless to say the Big Sky would be a better geographical fit for SUU.
