The road to the Summit League's NCAA bid goes through Oakland, according to a couple of the coaches I've talked to this spring.

Baby steps, my friend, baby steps.

Wait until they get the same record against that competition in the Fall.

Without knowing that much about it, I would almost be more impressed with beating St. Louis then beating Iowa. St. Louis is one of the real hotbed areas of soccer in the country. I can't imagine that U. of St. Louis wouldn't have a great soccer team.

St. Louis WAS a big win. Especially where they roster 35, count em' 35 players. Must have big benches.

from gophersports.com

The University of Minnesota’s soccer team defeated North Dakota State Saturday by a 4-0 score in the first game of the Spring Classic at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium with the help of two goals from sophomore Clare Grimwood.

This was not the same Bison team that took last year's Spring Classic.

Playing with only 3 subs (later just 2), 6 seniors who had seen little conditioning since last fall, bruised and battered from last weekend's 160 straight undefeated minutes of artificial surface abuse, a goal keeper who hadn't seen any action since last fall, the Bison dug in after the 18th minute against the Gophers holding them to just 8 shots on goal taking the runner up slot of the tournament after defeating UWGB 1-0 in the second match.

Senior goal keeper Jess Nei put in an outstanding performance, settling in and shutting out all opponents for the next 140 minutes. NDSU All Tournament selections were Loraine Thomson, Abbey Stratton and Michelle Martinez.

Outstanding performance!

What happened to Monica Morgan. I thought she was good during the fall and I see that she didn't play against MN.

For whatever reasons, both Monica Morgan and Ashley Dement chose to leave the team.
