From looking at the gobison.com and bisonville.com archives:

2007 schedule was announced on June 6.
2006 schedule was announced on March 21*.
2005 schedule was announced on April 28.
2004 schedule was announced on May 19.

* March 21 was when NDSU announced the Gopher game... I thought that was the last game added but maybe we added somebody later.

If you are trying to compare what NDSU has done in the past and then say it is OK to finish scheduling so late in the year that is not a valid measuring stick. How are other DI (FCS and FBS) teams doing? What percentage completed their schedules for 2008 before Jan 1st? Feb 1st? Mar 1st? How many have their 2009 schedules done already?

Can you say if it will likely be a home game or a road game? I think most know what type of team it would be if it were a road game.

This is strictly a rumor. No inside information as I was gone for 4 days in Vegas for NASCAR. I friend of mine who was at all of the basketball games over the weekend heard it was Memphis State. That would be a cool trip.

They're FBS in Conference USA.

They're looking for an opponent for Sept. 20, Oct. 25 or Nov. 15 (http://gotigersgo.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/022608aae.html). Those dates don't jive with our schedule, where we'll be playing Youngstown, IL St., and Missouri St. respectively.

Here's what I've been able to find out...

1. It's a road game

2. Therefore it's got to be an FBS.

3. It's for September 13.

The list includes...Miami of Ohio, Ohio, Temple, Kent State, and Middle Tennessee State.

Ok, the first four are MAC teams. Have been hearing for a while that MAC's aren't real interested in having NDSU come to town based on the last two seasons. Ohio would be a Bohl vs. Solich game. Much fun for a reporter, but not sure that the head coaches would really enjoy that. If I had to guess, I'd say either Temple or Middle Tennessee. Just a hunch, but my gut says Middle Tennessee.

Just for fun, here's the Sagarin Predictor rankings of the possibles and how they compared to some teams from last year's schedule:

I have an inside source, as stated in another thread, and he confirmed that the details where verballed agreed on last week. The Bison are going to Laramie to play the 'Pokes.

They were 5-7 last year. This is winnable. Laramie is a dinky town, not much happening, but I for one am making the drive.

winnable, yes. tough, he!! yes. wyoming collapsed at the end of the year, they had some big wins and have a very good team most of which is coming back next year.

I know it's really frustrating for all of us waiting for the announcement of the 11th game, however we have to respect Gene and the procedures he has to go through. This is a very active board and many people read it outside out group. We can all speculate as to who it may be, but it is probably up to the host school to list their schedule when it is a done deal. We've all, yes me included, have at one time posted information that probably shouldn't have been posted and regretted it. We just have to have patient and hopefully our schedule will be done soon.

Gene was just on WDAY radio talking about the football schedule. He said that he was getting nervous about the 11 th game until Wyoming just called out of the blue. It only took them a couple of days to finalize the contract. He also said Kansas St. & New Mexico St. sent him emails that they were looking for a game. Gene said for 2009 he has 11 games scheduled but is concerned that some teams may drop off if they get a more attractive FBS game.

He said he faxed back the SIGNED contract. So it's a done deal.
