The only one that I could find up so far was Western IL. I would like everyone to take a look at the QB that they landed and someone tell me, how in the hell did Western IL land him?

Makes me a bit concerned I guess. Hopefully the other teams will post their classes soon.

Because the Gateway is a different level of football. Western Illinois is traditionally a great team. Last year was an off year and they still got votes to go in the top 20.

In response to the physical brand of football the two new members of the Gateway will be bringing?

Makes you wonder how good he really is. With his size if he was as good as his stats you'd think the MAC and BIG 10 would be all over him.

Rivals and Scout don't always jive with actual recruiters. Numbers in high school also don't always translate to college. The best high school quarterback I've seen play ended up going to Ball State. He may have lasted a year or two but is now at DII University of Indianapolis.

I think we are going to find out very soon that in the Gateway and to be a top FCS team, you can never have enough OL and DL. I think our depth at DL hurt us alot last year and it may be a problem again this year.

when someone transfers from FBS to FCS, how long do they have to wait to play?

I was looking at Central Connecticut's (a non-conference opponent) signee list and they got a DL from Ohio State transferring there. He supposedly enrolled this semester there and will be in there Spring practice.

"Walter Dublin • 6-3 • 235 • Sarasota, FL • DE • Sarasota (Ohio State)
Transfer from Ohio State...Totaled 60 tackles at Sarasota High School as a senior including eight sacks...Blocked four punts and forced four fumbles...All-Area selection and two-time captain...84 tackles and 14 sacks as a junior...Strong, physical player."

A FBS>FCS transfer does not have to sit out for any time. A FBS>FBS or FCS>FCS transfer has to sit out one year.

Don't see Yuen <sp> on the list, so maybe JUCO is omitted.
Take it for what it's worth

Looking forward to the 2008 season... and beyond

It appears Illinois State has the #2 class among FCS schools according to this article. The Gateway is going to be a fun ride for a long time.

Thanks for the info...However, I rarely worry about rankings...Its not what they might do on the field, its what they can do on the field. :)

I don't worry about rankings either, especially at this level. There's not enough tape on some of these kids and we basically only know what the coaches recruiting them tell us. It's not like they are going to trash the kids. What I do know, and what I have all the faith in the world, in is this coaching staff who knew what they needed, saw that these kids could fill a nitch in our system and who will be able to coach and develope them into successful men/players.

Has there been any more information released on Xerxes Griffin? Is he signed? Is he going to sign? I was pretty excited about him and now there hasn't been much more talk about him. Anybody know?

Agree - The following exerpt taken from a Wisconsin article on the Badgers recruiting class points to the more objective approach.

"Bielema did some research for recruiting analysts who don't rank this class that highly.

Rivals.com, for example, currently ranks it No. 41 nationally and sixth among Big Ten Conference teams.

He said last year's group of seniors, who helped the Badgers finish No. 24 in the Associated Press poll, were ranked No. 47 as a recruiting class by the top national recruiting service. The seniors that helped the Badgers finish 12-1 and No. 7 in 2006 were ranked 50th as freshmen by at least one recruiting service."

Source" http://www.madison.com/wsj/home/sports/badgersFB/271337

Its the results, not the perception that counts.

Very true Aces.... the ONLY ranking that matters is who is holding up that trophy in November

I just need something to pass the time like looking at rankings for the next 6 months until the season begins.... or I suppose I could start reading War and Peace as well.

On another thread, someone found out that he signed with DII East Central University in Oklahoma.
