Being a former wrestler I am glad to see that BUcky and the gang are back home this Friday. I usually make it to all of the home matches. This should be a good match. I think the Dragons get some pretty good support and their program is ranked #15 on themat.com coaches poll. If you haven't checked out a wrestling match, they are worth the price of admission. I wish I had a copy of the wreslting commerical that 740 The Fan did- Gladiators Still Exist is the slogan and it is pretty cool. Anyone heard it? Or could possibly post it??

Moorehead is 17th in NWCA (Coach's Association) poll. Their 133 is ranked 5th. 49 is 6th. 74 is 2nd. 97 is 8th. Should be an interesting match. It's on all-access.

That'a baby Road. I would expect that from the roadwarrior. Now some other people need to go and cheer on the Bison grapplers.

This will not be easy. How did we do in the national duals in the glory days?

It's gets even tougher. Matt Wetterling is out for a month (if he didn't have bad luck he would have no luck at all) with a wrist injury. He led the team with 25-7 and 18 pins. We are also without three other starters. From the Forum blog:
Sometimes, enough is enough and you have to wonder how much more NDSU wrestler Matt Wetterling can endure. The standout Bison senior hurt his knee in the Virginia Duals last week and will be out at least a month.
This comes after a wrist injury, which came after injuries to both shoulders and who knows what else ailed him. Wetterling was outstanding as a sophomore leading the team with a 25-7 record and 18 pins, which ranked him ninth in the Division I statistics. Moreover, he was exciting to watch with the ability to throw a guy to the mat at anytime.
We won't see that on Friday night when the Bison host Minnesota State Moorhead. NDSU is also without three other potential starters with the most serious injury being back surgery to heavyweight Evan Hacker. It's possible that could be career-ending.

From the Forum: Minnesota State Moorhead is 9-3, placed in the national Division II dual tournament for the first time and boasted that tourney’s outstanding wrestler.

North Dakota State, meanwhile, is sub-.500 and has four potential starters – including its best wrestler – out with injuries.
Are the Bison vulnerable to the upset tonight? MSUM head coach Keenan Spiess doesn’t think so, citing NDSU’s hunger for a win.
“I think it will be an interesting match,” said NDSU head coach Bucky Maughan.

The Bison (5-7) will be without senior standout Matt Wetterling, who will be sidelined for at least a month with a knee injury. It’s the latest in a string of injuries for the senior Wetterling, who led the team in wins and pins as a sophomore.function photoFull (URL) {day = new Date();id = day.getTime();eval("page" + id + " = window.open(URL, '" + id + "', 'toolbar=0,scrollbars=0,location=0,statusbar=0,men ubar=0,resizable=0,width=510,height=510,left = 137,top = 84');");} RELATED CONTENT

Also out are 149-pounder Ryan Adams (back), 197-pounder Justin LaGosh (concussion) and heavyweight Evan Hacker (back). Hacker is slated for surgery and Maughan said he didn’t know how it could affect Hacker’s career. Same for LaGosh, who has had multiple concussions and has not been cleared to practice.

“We’re just banged up,” Maughan said. “And Moorhead has a nice team.”
Freshman Derek Bomstad is having a nice season. He’s 19-4 and was named the outstanding wrestler at the Division II duals after slicing through the tournament unbeaten.
He’s a former Minnesota high school champion from Hutchinson.
“I think he kind of got overlooked,” Spiess said.
Joe Werner at 125 pounds is also 19-4. The junior, who is the nephew of former Bison standout Wayne Werner, will face NDSU’s returning Division I national qualifier Eric Hoffman.
“That could be a crazy match,” Spiess said. “Both have pinning capabilities.”
The Dragons will be without 149-pounder Shane Walton, who injured his knee at the Division II duals.
“We’re just concerned with how we’re doing,” Spiess said. “We’ve been wrestling pretty well lately, but I don’t know if it’s enough to beat those guys. As long as we do our part, it could be a competitive dual.”

Beastly as always. Wrestling is a pretty good sport for action shots.
