looks like we have a chance for a sweep this weekend and move up a little

At this point all that matters is to get back on track against SUU. This SUU team must be capable considering they beat Oakland at Oakland which would not be an easy task.

We need to grab these guys by the throat early and don't let go. Go Bison!

Oral Roberts gets by IUPUIWDCABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZUI by 1 point. Sounds like it was a helluva game. Oral Roberts now all alone atop the Summit.

That's funny...I've wondered if they shouldn't change their name to something other than alphabet soup. Just be thankful the Fort Wayne campus didn't go IUPUFW. I guess that would be ooey-poof.:)

It should easily be within our grasp to finish at least 3rd at the end this year. Nothing wrong with that.

The conference is not even half over, anybody (in the top half) could still get into this and take league. ORU has a strong advantage currently, but the S.Utah/UMKC roadie is always a tough one, not too mention the "Dakota Swing" to end the season. If we can sweep or even pull splitz, than ORU runs away with it, but if you all can manage to protect home court the rest of the way plus steal a few on the road......trust me, this is a quirky league...its not set in the stone until the last month. This league for the past 3 years, has been decided in the last 2 games or so.

I'll stick to my original guess

ORU
IUPUI
Oakland
Cent
NDSU
"People Under The Stairs"

That was an impressive looking game you all put up against the jacks.

I'll admit my original prediction of you all ending 5th is beginning to look inaccurate.

A few more performances like that, plus snagging a few on the road, I could see ya'll 4th or better. You do have to find a way to win on the road though.

That game looked like men playing against boys. No chance.

Halfway through the conference season. SUU almost knocked off ORU tonight.

Naw, thats a typical SUU game in cedar city. They aren't playing as well at home as in past years, but they are starting to.

SUU does not lose at home in conference very often. Also, ORU played without our key offensive post man Marcus Lewis.

SUU will beat some teams down there, I'm just glad we survived, not many will.

They aren't that bad. If they are that bad, then what would NC Central be classified as? NC Central is 2-23 right now and we beat them 104-51!

P.S. NC Central also lost to Nebraska 71-28

Final week of the conference season this week. NDSU can finish tied for third but that would take two losses by Oakland and one by IPFW. They are playing UMKC and SUU this weekend.

The pre-season poll was pretty close:

Rank School (first-place votes) Points
1. IUPUI (12) 396
2. Oral Roberts (10) 393
3. Oakland (4) 359
4. North Dakota State (4) 351
5. Southern Utah 217
6. UMKC 205
7. IPFW 162
8. Western Illinois 137
9. Centenary 129
10. South Dakota State 101

IPFW & UMKC were the furthest away from the prediction, and they were only off by two places.

4th place in the Summit is a very respectable finish IMHO in our last year of this hell they call transition. Here's to hoping for an even better year next year. Great job too by a first year head coach.

And to the chorus of people who were belittling this conference for the lack of attendance at certain schools; wishing for a move to the Big Sky, let's compare the leagues. First the Summit ended the season ranked 22nd out of 31 D-I conferences as measured by RPI, while the Big Sky ended at 25th. The Summit League teams averaged a 213 rpi with a high of 65 (Oral Roberts) and a low of 320 (SDSU) while the Big Sky averaged a 229 rpi with a high of 96 (Portland State) and a low of 335 (Suck State). There are 341 teams playing D-I ball this year so Sack St is only rated higher than 6. And we want to be in their league? NDSU with our 192 rpi was 4th best in the Summit, but would have been 3rd in the Big Sky. Can someone tell me why the longing for the Sky? I for one don't see it. I think we saw the quality of play that is in this league. If other schools don't support their teams what does that matter to us?

Quality of play in this league? That is a little deep in the out house. The league is poor, other then the top 4 teams. Centenary is garbage and so SDSU. S Utah looked like a NSIC team. Western Ill is awful and will be lead by a new coach next year. I do agree with you however this is a nice fit for a conference, however the schools itself (directional and "-" schools) is the issue I would say. Our association with such schools as Cent and IPFW, is strickly on the court, surely is not in the classroom.

Maybe so, but top to bottom it's still better than the "sky" people keep wishing for.
