Friend's older sister went to NDSU. When we were juniors and seniors in HS we came up to party. I fell in love with the town and campus. It also helped that she was hot with hot friends. Oh, and I liked the technology program that they had here.

My older sister came to NDSU on a track scholarship so I naturally took a close look. Once I found out they had a good ME program I was sold on the school. It also helped that NDSU was about 3 to 4 times cheaper than any of the other schools I looked at.

I went there because it was affordable and somewhat close to home. I'm thinking of going back, however, because Lakesbison has done such a good job of marketing.

I was interested in engineering and didn't want to go too far away from home. Looking back, I really didn't think about it, and kind of just signed up, but it worked out well in the end. :)

1. NDSU had the major I wanted.
2. I had loved NDSU sports before I got there especially football.
3. Most my family(not my parents though) were already living in Fargo.
4. Far enough away from home.
5. Every member in my family went there expect my oldest sister. Talk about pressure!

Thought I might go into politics, thought it would be better to stay in-state. Tried the politics things a few years ago, I simply am not that full of sh1t.

Lets see....sister went UND and probably 5 or 6 cousins and I had to stop that trend. Now I have brother and a few cousins at NDSU(one transfered from UND). NDSU was also cheap, close to family and friends, and of course there is Bison football.

My older brother went here. I didnt know where I wanted to go to school, so I applied here and this was the only school I got into, which made things easy. I applied at Minnesota, UMD, Mankato (yuck) and Michigan Tech. I gald I didnt go or get into any of those other schools, NDSU is the place for me, I just wish Fargo had a hill with in 30 miles(I love to snowboard) and some more trees but NDSU is perfect.

Ha! The one and only thing.....a break up with a girl friend and the desire to get the heck away from Williston and find something new!! Absolutely no thoughts that were remotely academic entered into my mind.......typical of an 18 year old!!

Thanks god my own kid has a better thought process than I at age 18!!

Ahhh, the college vehicles. A 1988 Ford Escort for me, no extras, powered by a 32 squirrel power engine. Could go 0-60 in about 15 minutes!

I had a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix...The driver side door handle broke, so I had to hop in through the passenger side...It was embarrassing when taking out a girl at first, but most wanted second dates. ;)

Funny thing is I bought the Trans Am for half the cost of the Escort! I had to invest a few bucks to rebuild it, that is a different story!

If I could have afforded a stereo I would....wait...I would have spent it on beer. Wait, I did spend it on beer. I'd do it again too!

My 'rents always used to talk about UND like it was the "the bees knees" so my brother and I both decided that the best way we could rebel against them was to go to NDSU!!

...besides the fact that NDSU had better progams for our majors...

I have struggled with this question. It was so long ago and dementia must have set in as I just can not remember. ;) I am guessing that Devine Guidance.

to answer both questions:

1. NDSU was one of the few ND schools I hadn't attended and I could finish my degree in two years (Math or Computer Science), and

2. One of the several $50.00 cars that I purchased and drove for 6 or 7 months 'til they fell apart. ('63 Chevy, 64 Chrysler with no reverse, 1950 chrysler with a straight 8)

Most had character, none had class.

I wanted to go into Construction Management. I had applied all over and gotten accepted at a few far off party schools.

My father sat me down and told me "You can have a free ride to any school you want to go to................................................ ........once you get there it's up to you to pay your own tuition and find your own ride home.

The decision was easy after that.

That and the opportunity to walk on with the Bison:)
