How many will be in attendance tonight??

I'll say a tad over 3,000. We had almost 2,600 for a Thursday night game, so I figure, we should get a little more for a weekend.

And will we be able to get good bench presence again tonight?? We need at least 20-25 pts. coming from Riley, Coleman, Vaughan, Soos, etc.

Hopefully Moorman will be able to contribute better tonight than he did on Thursday.

Oakland, Oral Roberts and IUPUI are the three toughest teams in the Summit, IMO. (NDSU is right now 4th place as far as I'm concerned.) We need to beat all the top three at our place and at least beat either Oakland or IUPUI on the road if we want a shot at the regular season championship.

The Bison played well but I've never seen refs call ticky tack travels all game long and then when a guy takes 5 steps at the end not call it. The refs were bad, I won't blame the loss on them but they were horrible. That Cassiey kid was the reason why we lost, he put Oakland his back and hit the big shots down the stretch. Woody did his best to keep pace but it wasn't enough. Tough loss for sure, now we have a huge game with IUPUI on the road. It would be huge to take that one, huge.

What an amazing game!!! So much fun! Too bad we couldn't pull it out...

Think about this: if we put the right number in the scorebook, it's a tie game and we're watching overtime right now. :ranting: I've never seen that being called before.

That was a fun game to be at for the second half. The crowd was pretty dead the first half but came alive in the second.

Man did we look flat in the first half. We were telegraphing passes and they were breaking from ten feet back to pick off the pass. That Johnson was fast. Woody seemed to be absent in the first half but man did he come alive and start driving it in the second. He was money from the line. That Technical really hurts now when you see the score.

I have to give it to Mooreman he played a pretty good game. He had a few nice tip ins and seemed to be in the right position not to far out or to far underneath. He suprised me tonight and I am not a fan of his usually. We were getting raped underneath away from the ball on offense and we did not pick up on it and we played to "correct" on the defensive side. The refs were calling a bunch of fowls on Oakland but they could have called a bunch more (man were they holding and throwing elbows). I feel we played a little to "nice" on defense. Just my .02 maybe only worth half that but just my thoughts.

It was perfect play and very well executed except for the miss! You could not of asked for a better look, wide open with only one guy coming at you at the top of the key. I to was not impressed with the refs but we did not recognize it and play to what they were allowing.

Moorman did better tonight. He was a big contributor down the stretch.

I think Winkelman is our team's best player now.

Refs tonight SUH-HUCKED. They should've been reffing an NCC game.

The set-up for Woody with 2.3 left was TEXTBOOK PERFECT, but Woody missed the three. I swear I thought he would've made that after seeing the perfect setup. If he made that, the roof of the BSA would've exploded off its trusses.

3,593 in attendance. Pretty dang good. I was originally expecting 3,000-3,200 tonight. I thought there might have been 4,000 looking around, but I guess the west side upper deck was sparse. The east side was almost full...

We're currently averaging 2,848 per game overall, and 3,088 in conference games. Out total season attendance is 17,087.

I really want to see future conference crowds at least as big as the NCC days, if not bigger. I'm talking about selling out our future 6,000-seat arena. If it ends up in the future being that more people in F-M went to Bison hoops games when they were in DII than when they were in a DI conference, then the people in this city are seriously f**ked up.

I was looking recently at some ancient box scores from the NCC days. 4,000 for conference games was a GIVEN. UND would sell out, and SDSU would sometimes get there. We need to repeat that again. I hope that will be the case in the Summit.

I thought Moorman played horrible on the defensive end, but he did actually do something on the offensive end which was shocking. The big 3 stepped up as they usually do and Sam and Freddy look to be improving.
There is no excuse for all the turnovers in the first half though, if you take away all those horrible turnovers it's a completely different game. People say the stripes cost them the game as well as the adminstrative T, great basketball minds would say turnovers were the bigger factor.

Last night was why we went D1. That was a sweet game. The loss hurts. Really hurts, but it was fun to watch those athletes play at the BSA. I can't wait for a new arena someday.......maybe even one with a place to buy some popcorn.

The tech foul hurts. 2 free points in the middle of the game. You just think to yourself, I hope that doesn't affect us later.....yep.

I thought Winks needed more looks. He is a beast. One guy who can physically get his shot off down low. He is just tougher than his defender night in and night out. Does the term HAND CHECK mean anything to the refs? It was like they were watching the K-State game on how to guard Woody. GET THEM OFF!!!! Seriously.

Again, I will take that type game everyday of the week. You go D1 to play better competition...and Fargo is seeing it now.

Rothsay kid was in the house last night. Hopefully seeing how physical the other team played and wanting to get bigger/stronger....he was about the size of their big guys....but, Damn...they were rough. #4 and #44 were really physical for guys that weren't very thick. Reminded me of Eduardo Najera when he was with Oklahoma...seemingly always had a wide elbow.

Refs need to figure out what a travel is. The idiots called Winks for it one three times when he was doing the move that he's done all year. The first one might have been a travel, yea. But NOT the last two. Then the one called with 11 seconds left...*sigh*. Oh, and who didn't see the OU player take three steps on his lay up with 5 secs left? Fu**ing refs, leave the BSA and don't come back. I don't mind to lose a good game like that, but when you have IDIOT refs who can't see sh*t. I HATE THAT.

If you were around Section T, about row 21. You would have heard a Teen Yelling at the refs at the end of the game...2.3 secs left, that break when they showed the replay. In a blue Underarmor sweatshirt, that was me. F***ing refs.

My thoughts on tonights game:

Moorman finally looked like he belonged in the starting 5. His D certainly is lacking though. Oakland was a team without a true big man, he had no presence down low.

The game takes on a whole new pace when Freddy is playing. He brings a breath of fresh air off of the bench. He shows the ability to score as well as play some solid D.

I was under the impression the NCAA was enforcing the "coaches box" this year. Oaklands coach was practically on top of Saul all night. Seriously, what's it take for a guy to get T'd up. If anybody has ever deserved one, it was him.

Woodside does a nice job drawing contact, however he didn't seem to convert on his open looks.

Cassise was flopping all night, the foul at the end should have been a no call just because of that.

Saul called a timeout just as Woodside had passed underneath to Sam or Nelson (i don't remember who), it would have been a wide open look but was of course cancelled by the time out, Woodside came to the bench and slammed his fist on the chair and let "F*CK!" out. It was very obvious he didn't agree with Saul's timeout, after the timeout we ended up not converting, game could have had a different outcome.

How bout those Oakland uniforms. I imagine they are intended to give a competitive edge, nothing for an opponent to grab on to, less air resistance? either way, they were nasty, what's next skin tight shorts?

Overall good game, could have gone either way really. Can't leave a game in the refs hands. Should have been a 10 point bison victory.

I am not a great basketball mind but I do have several observations about the game last night, none of which includes the actual game. My lovely wife & I guess that maybe 25% of the people at the game were actually wearing Bison colors. Maybe this is normal but sure seems low to me. Second, there was no band. I understand the students are on break but I think they were on break for the Tim Miles game but there were at least some people to make up a band. Lastly, with no band there was no Bison fight song. I find it hard to believe that nobody could find at least a recording to play over the PA system. All that was played was AC/DC Thunder Struck. Very lame in my opinion.

Sorry, but I feel better now.

Mr. Burgundy

I liked their coach....he was earning calls throughout the night. Obviously he is over the top, but there is a method to his madness. His kids played HARD. They had some big men with average ability that really scrapped...they were a reflection of him on the court. I would take #4 on our team anyday...he was just dirty/crafty/probably dirty. We could use a little edge on our team. (Andre.....)

I had to listen to the game on the radio. Was there a travel called on Tveit with about 1 min. left?? Did anyone see that play, what happened?

He sure did, lifted up his pivot foot right infront of the Bison's bench when they had a very good opportunity to end the game.

Was at both games, and would agree with a previous post that the refs absolutely sucked. Couple of cases in point, the potential jump ball when their guy is sitting on the floor, ball is behind his back, obviously does not have control of the ball at that moment, and their bench calls a timeout saving the possession??????? A couple of the travel calls on Winks, are you kidding me! Then the obvious 15 extra step drive to the basket on their last possession, especially thanks to the replay board, which helped decide the outcome of the game. But when you leave it up to the refs......

What were we doing with the called timeout when we practically had the ball in the hoop at the end there, I think I about blew a vein in my head over that one.:smh: If Woody was frustrated, I could possibly understand why.

How about some of our fast breaks at the end, and some of the passes, just sick. And Winks, he is just flat out a stud! How about the shot from behind the arc from the big man, everyone in Section S had a collective gasp, "NO", until it went in and the place went nuts! Was overall an incredible game, to bad we couldn't pull it out. And yes, their coach was an A-hole.

the T was called because the there was a foul on Sussenguth and the ref signaled to the scores table a foul on #34. Moron at our own score table says, uh.... we dont have a 34. Ref checked it out and found a 33 but no 34.

if the person working the score table just would have went along with it, it would have been fine.

...Wow. Isn't Saul supposed to look over the book and say everything is correct?

They should invite a high school band from the area to perform. This has been done before and the those bands did a great job at the games!

There was some High School band in there last year that just kicked butt. I think maybe Ada? Didn't they even go out on the court during timeouts or at the half?

I agree. That is why it is called "Home court advantage." If someone has an error....that doesn't affect the game.....you shut your mouth. Change the damn number. did the guy really call the refs over...."Yeah, um...we have a problem. I don't see a 34, but I do see a 33.....I think rule 23A-C states that it is an adminstrative technical on the HOME team." Just bunk. The Boston Garden would never let this happen (known for having a home court advantage at the scorers table...clock...etc).

Your right, the Boston Garden would never let that happen. The reason why it would never happen is because such an elementary mistake. Even a junior high team would catch the mistake. Seriously, you deserve to lose the game if you can't fill out the scorebook properly. How difficult is it to make sure all the numbers are right before the game? Do they need to get a couple of 13 year olds to verify its filled out properly? Whoever the assistant was that filled out the scorebook should be looking for a new job.

I think the coaches are supposed to look over the book and sign off on it, not actually fill it out. When you are at home, you shouldn't have to check it very hard -- you should be able to trust your own people, but that guy over there is pretty ancient.

The game wasn't decided by the technical, but you hate to lose a game by a small margin and give people the chance to say "what if...." There were a lot of things we could have done better, and a lot of calls that we could have gotten.

I will agree that their coach intimidated the refs and they got some calls because of it. No official should be intimidated by any coach or player, period.

it should be the other way around with coaches and refs

I disagree, I think one team would deserve to lose the game if they can't score as many points as the other...how one team fills out the scorebook shouldn't have ANY say on the game itself.

So your saying giving a team a 2 point advantage because you couldn't fill out the scorebook properly shouldn't have any say on the game itself then? So your also saying a team shouldn't receive a technical foul then because they can't fill out a scorebook properly as well?

I agree, rouge. Having a wrong number in a book has about as much to do with the game as if I, a fan, remember to tie my shoes before I came to the game.

It's not like the typo affects* the actual gameplay like a real foul does.

Not to beat the whole scorebook thing to death, but let's put this in perspective. No it shouldn't have any outcome on the actual game, but it does, rules is rules.

We dress 14 players, that is 14 different numbers, that unless I'm missing something here don't change from game to game. I would be willing to bet you that half the people on this board could tell you the top 6 - 8 players numbers without even having to give it much thought. So for someone on the coaching staff to do it is inexcusable.:banghead:
