I'm probably going to get bashed on for this, but after watching the Gopher game, and then this game so far, I'm seeing something with Woodside that kind of irritates me.

Every time he makes a mistake, or turns the ball over, he stops what he's doing and he puts his head down for a second. I saw him do it against the Gophers a few times when he made bad passes or had the ball stolen from him, and he's done it a couple times tonight.

I love the guy, but I wish he would quit doing that.

The Bison are playing a horribly flat and uninspired game. The lack of a quality big man is also painfully evident. This and the MN game have been horribly sorry outings and Saul needs to get the Herd to turn it up a few notches, or it could be a long season. I am not liking this play at all.

I agree. They aren't even fun to watch.

We have no answer for their big men so we're forced to double team, which has been freeing up the 3 point shooters and they have been hitting.

Not much we can do about it.

We start guarding the 3 and they eat us up inside because they're so much bigger. I think Coach is just trying to take away the high % shot.

Saul needs to find the cure for this flat playing and needs to get some inside play and rebounding. It is hard to believe that the loss of one player from last year to this year (Andre) has taken a fantastic and explosive team and turned it into this. The Coaches got to inpisire these guys!!!! I am not a happy Bison Fan tonight.

I don't know any other explanation. I hate to go there this early but wow, this team is nowhere near what we had last year. Even with Dre on the bench the team was still pretty good. Woodside 6 points....2 for 10???

D1 starters
Woodside
Nelson
Winks

D1 reserves
Moorman
Tveidt (starter after experience)
Zo

Everyone else is DII. Compare the athleticism and the skill level of some of the best players you have seen play at the BSA in the NCC. They fit that slightly above average category but below the top players.

Vaughn- speed of the game is too much for him. It shows in his in game shooting precentage.
Freddie- may be too early to tell but i can see him being a solid guard at that level but not DI. (You rather have Ben Nemmers or Jason Retzlaff in this situation or Freddie?)
Susenguth- He is a DII post player. Think of all the NCC big men that would have eaten him alive.

Dan Coleman??? Havent seen him yet so cant make a judgement. Supposedly he is legit. His HS numbers for the metro sure seem to indicate that.

Not real sure about quantifying players this way given so much depends on sitution but...

IMHO

DI:
Woodside
Nelson
Winks

DI reserves:
Zo
Moorman (Prior to last years injury, really struggling now though)
Tveidt (TBD)
Pennick (At best)
Freddie Coleman (I would much rather have him than either guys mentioned by bisonpride2k, please not Nemmers, ah nightmares)
Sussenguth (Playing with last years promise, really struggling now)

Eh.
Vaughan (Had high hopes for him)

Not sure why we mention Eric Carlson, but he is red shirting and in watching the pre season games he was the real deal.

-----

However, you notice that most good teams we are playing go 9-10 guys deep. On an outstanding night we are only 6-7 deep, which is no different than the last couple years. On an average night we are about 3-4 deep.

The more you look at it, this years early "struggles" really have to do with Mooreman not doing well, the loss of Dre, both of course were the anchor to the middle (Two years back we even had another serviceable big man). And no one beyond the big 3 stepping it up in the middle especially where we are hurting the most.
