We lost quite a few #1 votes in the Sports Network poll after Saturday's game. Coming into this past weekend, we had 42 votes and UNI only had 61. They gained 9, we lost 19.

Seems right.

Montana dropped in the poles after winning close games, seems about right that NDSU will lose votes in close games too.

Seems about right, why?

Montana dropped because they played nobody, DII or non-scholie DI or a DI team with few wins, at HOME and barely won. NDSU plays a ranked team on the ROAD and barely wins. This seems "about right" by what delusional, irrational thinking process?

All I can say is what I said in an earlier thread about the AGS poll, UNI must have played one hell of a tough football team last weekend and drubbed them for them to gain that much distance. So, I am impressed with their prowess.

We barely beat a team that now isn't even going to be a playoff team while UNI completely massacred another win.

What, you want to actually "gain" votes for that? Of course we're going to lose some votes.

Did UNI drop after their close call against Youngstown? Not sure.

I'm with you Neil. If we had played Indiana State, we would have drubbed them. Do you know if UNI lost a lot of ground when Youngstown nearly got them? That was their Cal Poly type of game. Last Saturday night...Cal Poly played like a very tough playoff team. They were certainly the equal of many of our top opponents over the past two years. We shouldn't lose a lot of votes over a game like that.

It works just like it does in D1A.

Who's playing the best at the end of the season.

NDSU pulled the win out like great teams do. They found a way to win.

But even I cannot expect to actually gain votes on UNI the same week we barely beat a non playoff team and the #2 team is cruising to a 68-14 win regardless of who they play. They should have won handily , and they did. NDSU should have won more comfortably then we did.

The same thing can happen next week. We can blow out SDSU, UNI can somewhat struggle, and we'll gain more votes than them. It's how the polls work. You see it happening at the D1 polls all the time.

I'm just a little confused that some people are actually surprised that we lost some votes. They have fluctuated on a week by week basis throughout the entire season.
