just seeing how Sam Houston faired tonight, and Rhett Bomar is OUT for the season with a torn ACL! could even affect him for next year. Too bad thought SHSU was gonna be a power.

Has anyone tracked SHSU progress or Bomar's progress since the NDSU game? I kindof wish I would have done so during the year.

I watched the 2nd half of the SHSU/NDSU game yesterday. Running QB's really hurt out defence. I think NDSU has gotten better during the year than they were in that game.

Edit: Google is my friend. Looks like SHSU is 5-4 in the season right now. The stats look like their RB scored a lot of their TD's. Bomar rushed for a couple here and there as well. It doesn't look like they put up yards/points like they did against NDSU.

They have not been as potent as they were against us, that game was by far the best they played all season.

For some reason SHSU really flopped this year. I was thinking they would be a playoff team, especially after playing the Bison. Truthfully they have a good bit of building to do in order to be at that level.

Well, has *******UND********* ever played a game against Rhett Bomar? Until then, I'd say don't knock the reference.

Seems I saw something about UND in the news lately. Can't remember if it was about having an offensive mascot or grumbling about not being able to find quality opponents. Do you recall?

Do you care to actually make a valid point? I don't recall mentioning anything to the team up to the north and i'm sick of people constantly talking and making references to them.
I'm just really curious to what the heck does Rhett Bomar lighting up the Bison have anything to do with them anyways? He showed that the Bison were terrible in the secondary and that they couldn't stop the spread. Why can't you just leave it at that?

I can't dispute that at all. I think if he doesn't get into trouble at Oklahoma, he probably ends up a first round pick. It was like watching a man play against boys that game.

Why can't you ever post anything positive about the Bison. I'm sick of you putting us down. I don't mind critical posts, I make them myself, but you seem to have an agenda that doesn't include the good of NDSU. (and I might add, at least we have some good).

Again, way to not answer the question what so ever. What does UND have anything to do with Rhett Bomar lighting up the Bison? I don't recall ever defending UND against NDSU, so I'm curious to what your obsession is with it? Just because someone isn't a big homer and isn't afraid to say the truth doesn't mean they support the Sioux like you assume. My agenda is I'm a college sports fanatic.
Now answer the question, do you really think it's a good thing when your a team that gets mentioned because someone lit you up?

It's simply "underdog" mentality.
School pride, state pride, doesn't matter which.
The smaller and less renowned get over-excited when they see a mention (good or bad).
Imagine a similair story where Tim Tebow is mentioned having a record setting day against Georgia. Do think anyone from Georgia or the University of Georgia would say.....Wow! the article mentioned the University of Georgia!!!!!
No, because they're used to it.
Score a touchdown, give the ball to the official: "act like you've been there."
Sack the QB, stand up, go back to the defensive side of the ball and wait for the next play: "act like you've been there."
It' basically the same thing.

Bomar had a great game against us and he was in the zone. A lot of quick hitters and lots of 5-15 yard stuff. That was his best game of the season. I disagree that he was the best qb ever in ND.... I think you saw the best qb the last 39 seconds of that game.

mebisonII

He ranked second in the Football Championship Subdivision in total offense and fourth in passing as a senior. As a junior, Bomar became one of 11 FCS players to pass for 300 yards and rush for 100 yards in a game against North Dakota State.

hmmm....that doesn't seem quite right....

I don't want to start this again, but here we go......

Walker was a good qb, but with a great system. He was not the best qb that game. The way that game was going if Bomar and company were down with 39ticks left they would have won. He absolutely tore us apart.

There is a reason Walker came to NDSU and did not start his career at a BCS powerhouse.

OK. You made me do it with this silly rhetoric.

2007
Walker:
166/248 66.9% 2327 20 10 164.3
Bomar:
172/290 59.1% 2209 10 6 130.9

Who was better that year?

How about 2008?
Mertens:
152/260 58.5% 2004 16 15 131.8
Bomar:
245/436 56.2% 3355 21 13 135.3

Identical completion percentage and passer rating.
Nearly identical YPA.

If Mertens throws 436 passes in 2008, here is how his stats look:

255/436 58.5% 3362 27 25 131.8

I'm not even sure, statistically that Bomar was a better QB than Mertens this year.

HMMMMMM.

Of course stats are just for geeks and don't tell the "True Story". I'll agree with that.

So let's compare winning % as starting QB.

Walker = 30-6 83.3%
Bomar = 11-10 52.3%

So who is the best QB that ever took a snap in ND? I don't know the answer to that, but I know it isn't Rhett Bomar.

But you can't back it up with anything other than opinion, which is fine. This is a message board and it is full of them.

I backed up my argument that Walker was a better QB than Bomar.

He sure isn't accurate, or particularly efficient.

And he isn't a winner.

#8 draft eligible QB this year
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft09/columns/story?columnist=mcshay_todd&id=3805874

Playing in the Senior Bowl

Walker"
No draft looks
Participated in a pro day with Weston Dressler(who is playing pro)
Heck, even John Bowenkamp(Sioux QB in 2003, got into Vikings camp
