We are solidifying our place at #2.

Gotta go with the coaches poll over ags (even though I think agsers do a better job).

Week 5 #2 (22)
Week 6 #2 (19)
Week 7 #2 (17)

so we're actually getting more #1 votes.

It's good that we are starting to get more #1 votes from the AGS crowd going from 28 votes to 33.

But in the other polls, Sports Network we lost #1 votes....after a 35 point win. We went from 47 first place votes to 37. In the Coaches poll we went from 21 to 16 first place votes.

Discussion question: Do you think that there is a connection between the loss of #1 votes and the negative press that has been dealt out on Sports Network and College Sporting News websites this past week?

My take on this is that there is a connection. There is no way that I can justify changing first place votes when the team that loses votes (NDSU) sits out two of their best players and still beats their opponent (SUU) by 35. Now, UNI had a good win and had to come back to do it at home. They won by 1 point...to a team that beat SUU by a single point earlier in the season. Winning at home by scoring only 14 points is not that impressive. If NDSU was held under 21 points in a game we would have people on this site speculating on what the heck was wrong with the offense, regardless of who we were playing in the FCS. It is pretty obvious that some feathers were ruffled last week.

This is very true. I go to school at Iowa St. and a friend from the home of UNI came up to me cracking jokes about Bohl "declaring" a NC and fans complaining about the transition rules. HE LIVES IN IOWA! and he hears about these types of things.
After some strong argument, he learned that Bohl is a very classy coach and that he understands the rules of transitioning schools, but the point remains:
This stuff can get around and put a bad image on NDSU, ultimately affecting the team in polls.

Makes you kind of think twice about what you type...

Don't forget that the Sports Network has forgotten to send out its polls in past weeks..........................

You have a point, but I think that the real reason for the bad press had little to do with a quote taken out of context by Bohl or whining on a message boad by a select few posters. What drove this feather ruffling was the continual barrage of ESPN talking heads declaring NDSU as "the number one team in the FCS". I must have heard that 15 to twenty times that weekend. And, if you have the Big Ten network, you heard that all week long. And they made a point of stressing over and over that the Bison would not be allowed to participate in the post season. That kind of national press is not good for the FCS elite. This is what really ruffled the feathers, not coach Bohl.

If winning all of your games ruffles feathers, than I'm fine with that.

What difference does it make? The only purpose all of the FCS polls serve is for playoff seedings.

Then why are they done all year and not just after the last week?

Lots of reasons, the largest being to sell magzines & promote interest, and to avoid having to sift through 12 weeks of data during the last week of the season.

Does the UNI SID email everyone asking for #1 votes on the AGS poll, like he does for the Sports Network poll?

He's one of a few SID's that Kolpack and Scott Miller have received emails from. They talked about this on PTS tonight. Also said another writer emailed everyone stating the SIDs should quit such childish behavior.

This stuff is not that to figure out! Playoff eligible teams play non-eligible teams during the season. Their wins/losses against those teams need to be quantified, especially if they are a "bubble team."

No, the guys doing the AGS poll are smart enough to get paid for it.....he just sends them a check every week!
