Has anyone ever bought these numbers and painted with them? I bought them tonight and I feel like they are not dark/dull enough. I swabbed a little on the wall of each and I see if it changes when dry. I told them the pantone #'s and they found pantone #123c and #342c in the computer. Does this sound firmiliar? I just hope there isn't an 123a or 123b. Thanks for any help! ;)

Actually, from a printers standpoint, 123 is the right color when printed on glossey stock, however when printed on uncoated stock it looks too gold and 109 looks more like the 123 on gloss.

Yellow at home, green on the road

Good advice from Dormie, depending on what type of finish the paint is that will make a difference.

They will dry a little darker and they should look a little darker when the wall/room is done compared to just painting a small area.

Thank you. How about the green? What number is better?

Here is what I recommend. I feel 100% better about my paint now. I recommend you find a jersey, shirt, something that shows the ndsu colors exactly as you want them. Then you take that to Menards and they do something with it (I used my son's Mays jersey) and it scans it into the computer and tells them what to add to make it match. Then they add, they use your paint and paint a stick dry it with a dryer and add another coat. They dry that and compare it to the example you brought in. Then they add more color if necessary. My paint is ready to go on. I have tested it on the wall and I love it. I will take pics when the paint drys. ;)

Good plan. As the others have mentioned here, color depends on the surfaces, etc.

I would have to assume that almost every school from High School to DI has colors they consider 'school colors' then they have the colors they use on there jerseys, etc.

Pantone great in theory, but in practice as we see in this thread it's a guide.
