I would love to see SDSU and ISU go on a hot streak and get back into the polls before we play them. I can also see things settling down a bit in the polls. We need both UNI and Montana to lose while we go undefeated to finish a consensus #1 in all three of these polls. Montana will eventually lay an egg, not so sure about UNI though as they look damn tough.

It's going to be damn difficult for NDSU to go undefeated. Not impossible, but difficult. Goofers score a ton of points, and we are in their house. SUU took Youngstown St to the wire, after narrowly being defeated by Montana St. Cal Poly took it to UCD and SDSU is playing inspired football. Both of these last road games will be very difficult for the Bison. The meat of our schedule is coming up, it is going to be a blast.

Can anyone tell me what the SBN Poll is?

I was happy to see the voters drop Montana a bit after some questionable performances they have had recently. At the same time I think UNI has earned the #1 ranking so far this season. The Bison have a tough second half of the year left and will have time to continue to prove their worth at the top of the polls and hope that one of the other Gateway teams can chip UNI off the top of the rock. If this were 2008 we would have our own chance at knocking off the top Gateway conference. Conference games are going to take another big step forward next year, at one point I thought it would be tough to see a tougher group of conference opponents than Cal Poly, Davis and Southern Utah but I think NDSU and SDSU have done just that.

Go Bison

We will go undefeated. The toughest game left will be at Brookings. Thanks for the info.

If NDSU goes undefeated they need to be #1. That is getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but if it happens they should hold that ranking.

Why is that, Jeff? Compare your schedule to UNI's or U Mass then add the 4 crushing playoff games those 2 will hopefully play through. So if you end up undefeated as does UNI; who would have defeated:

1. Iowa State
2. SDSU
3. Southern Illinois
4. W. Illinois
5. Youngtown St.
6. Illionois State
7. 4 playoff wins

NDSU should be #1??????

If UNI can get through that gauntlet unscathed, they would be my #1 no question. However, as good as UNI is, that is unlikely to happen. I've got UNI and NDSU in the top two spots. Next year the rivalry starts, and given the level both of these teams have been playing at the last few years I think it is going to develop into a great one with Gateway title and playoff seeding implications every year.

We have three common opponents. If both NDSU and UNI go undefeated and NDSU defeats Illinois State, Western Illinois and South Dakota State by greater margins than UNI, then I'd have no problem with NDSU as #1 for the final poll of the regular season. If UNI takes home the NC, then they get the #1 after the playoffs. If NDSU only gets 2 of the 3 larger margins or less, then UNI could go on top for the final regular season poll. It all starts this weekend with UNI at WIU.

NDSU at WIU: NDSU by 13
UNI at WIU: 10/20/07

NDSU at SDSU: 11/17/07
UNI at SDSU: UNI by 14

Illinois State at NDSU: 11/03/07

Ill State is a home game for you, it was a road game for us.

Good luck against the goofs on Sat.! I really am looking forward to this game!! After seeing the UNI/SIU game last Sat, I am confident both of those clubs would take the goofs. There is just no way the putrid goofer D could stop either team. Hope you guys lay at least 55 on them!!
