SDSU 6-1 .857 15-6 .714
ORU 5-1 .833 10-8 .556
NDSU 5-2 .714 13-5 .722
WIU 4-2 .667 7-11 .389
IPFW 5-3 .625 11-8 .579
Oak 2-4 .333 6-12 .333
IUPUI 2-6 .250 9-12 .429
UMKC 1-5 .167 4-16 .200
Cent 0-6 .000 1-19 .050

Looks like there is a split in the team talents so far, basically 5 "have teams" & 4 "have not teams in the Summit League. The Bison have 9 games left in league play. 4 against the haves (H vs. SDSU, H&A vs. ORU, A vs. WIU) and 5 against the have nots (H vs. OAK, H vs. IUPUI, A vs. UMKC, H&A vs. Cent).

If we win the games we should (have nots) and play .500 vs. the remaining "haves", that would leave us with a 12-4 record and almost guarentee us a spot in the playoffs... Going to be an interesting last month of the season...

Remember only the top 4 teams get into the conference post season tournament, which this year is being held at IPFW.

The Summit League playoff procedure for tie breakers includes: head to head record, game, not match winning percentages in conference and overall play, record against the top seeded team and finally if it is still tied a coin flip.
If conference play were to end this week, here is how things would play out:
# 1 Oral Roberts versus # 4 SDSU
# 2 IPFW versus # 3 NDSU
This is the procedure that would determine last two spots:
Western Illinois misses out with a lower winning percentage in head to head action. The Jacks would receive the fourth seed because of a lower overall winning percentage. The winners of the first round go on to meet for the conference title and the automatic bid for the NCAA tournament.

Three conference games left(UMKC, ORU, Cent). The best NDSU can do at this point is to split every series with the other four teams vying for spots. The only top-five team to win both games over another top-five so far is WIU over ORU with five big games to go. It looks like this season will go down to the wire.

Beat Oral Roberts next Friday so when we beat them Saturday it's for the conference title:D. Two way tie at the top between the Jacks and Oral.

Final week:

SDSU 11-3
ORU 11-3
NDSU 10-4
IPFW 10-4
WIU 10-4

SDSU hosts ORU and Centenary this weekend.
ORU travels to SDSU and NDSU this weekend.
NDSU hosts ORU and Centenary this weekend.
IPFW hosts WIU and travels to IUPUI this weekend.
WIU travels to Oakland and IPFW this weekend.

This makes for an exciting finish to the regular season. One of these teams will not make it to the conference tournament.

I don't follow VB that much, but looking at records and such, it looks like we are in a pretty strong volleyball conference. Is this true? How does the summit rank among other (mid-major?) conferences?

Summit League is usually a weak conference, but this year the top teams have struggled at times and everyone has beat up on each other. Usually more than half the teams have a below .500 record but the play of the top 5 teams this year has sort of been unexpected.

And Oral chokes it's way out of the postseason.

On a lighter note, NDSU takes on IPFW while SDSU takes on Western Illinois in the first round. ;) Looks like Jacks are going Bison Hunting X 2 next Saturday...

It's interesting that the three new teams to the Summit are at the top of the playoff list and 4-time Summit tourney qualifier Western Illinois limps in as 4th seed after winning a tie-breaker with former Summit power ORU.

Seems as though the bar has been raised a bit in the Summit.
