What is the rumor mill putting out about this? It usually isn't good when a news conference is announced with no information to go on ahead of time.

In other news, with almost five years in the making, I am now allowed to dream in green and gold!!! Yay for me.

Maybe USD. Remember the rumors on AGS about USD saying they were joining the Gateway.

I hope the dang firetrucks don't steal their spot.

I think the Gateway would vote to admit a girl scout troupe before we'd lower ourselves to take a team like UND. We wouldn't want to force them to play us after they vowed they never would.

Coaching change. I can't believe a school would announce they were dropping a sport at this point in its season. If they schedule another big news conference with one or two games left, then I would worry.

Of course, if the Gateway has some deadline for changing membership, that might change things. Any school would rather make the announcement themselves rather than have it leak from the conference office.

Still, I think coaching change.

Excellent.

In other news, perhaps I need to resurrect my "unfortunate names" thread in teh Smack section.

I'm still confused. How did the possibility of ISU leaving take the Gateway from 9 to 6 members? OR was that the number for the current year??

Probably before the latest additions are added (SU's).

I particularly liked the AGS post that said the breaking news was the Sycamores were going to change their name to the Sucamores.
