So we start the season rated as #82 in the land. That's pretty impressive, behind only ASU and Montana for FCS teams. Can anyone recall how high we reached last season?

Sorry, but as usual Montana is overrated.

I would bet good money on 16 pt spread in the Goopher game, but I think CMU will cover the 2pt.

Don't quote me on this, but didn't we end up in the 60s last year, ahead of quite a few 'name' universities?

Agreed...and we're underrated by about 10 or 15 slots...conservatively.

Did you notice that Minnesota is at 30? SI predicts that they'll go 0-8 in the Big Ten...and 4-8 over-all.

Minnesota is not a top 30 team, no matter which way you throw the dice.

Agreed...that seems crazy. I think the ratings are more meaningful 3-4 games into the season.

I have happened to hear from a very authoritative source that the Gophers will be playing in the rose bowl this year......

We ended #57 and Minnesota ended #48. I posted the link for last year's results...

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt06.htm

This year we are ranked #82 and Minnesota is ranked #35, hopefully we finish similar to last year.

Minnesota ranked ahead of Alabama, South Carolina, Maryland, Texas A&M, and Michigan State? Ha Ha Ha Ha

Here is the link to updated Sagarin ratings. Minnesota fell down to #64 and we gained 5 spots to #77. App St flew up to #38 and Montana fell below us.

Well, it only took a week for Minnesota to slide behind Alabama, South Carolina, Maryland, Texas A&M and Michigan State. And without even playing a game, NDSU has gone from 47 slots behind Minnesota to only 13.

And with Miami (OH) being at 70, that is no gimme for them either. They could be very desperate by the time NDSU comes to the Dome, but I think it is going to end up being a Bison win either way.

New Sagarin ratings out this morning

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt07.htm

NDSU - 92
Western Michigan - 121
Minn - 55

Looks like there are six I-AA teams ahead of us now. Last week before we played, only App St was ahead of us.

So, we win our game, gain 575 yards and we drop 10 spots?? We are being punished for winning despite being -5 on turnovers??

I don't think Sagarin uses anything to calculate rankings but W/L and score.

It depends which number you're looking it. The BCS number doesn't include score as a factor because the BCS prohibits it from any of the computer calculations it uses. The Predictor number does use margin of victory as a factor. As I understand it the other primary factors are strength of schedule and opponents strength of schedule.
