IowaPreps.com reports that Fort Dodge St. Edmond center Andy Nagel has committed to NDSU. He's 6'8 and will probably be a power forward.

IAHoops.com has him ranked as the #8 player in Iowa.

Here's the link (might be a pay site so it might not work): http://iowapreps.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?Sport=2&pr_key=40601

I'm still researching this one... according to the UNI board, the Panthers had offered him back in April, cited NDSU's ag programs as a deciding factor.

Maybe NDSU moving on to the next recruit and not waiting on "the one" will have positive effect on future recruiting. Perhaps future recruits will take note that NDSU will not wait around. Maybe not, just a quick thought.

You need to sign quality size whenever you can find it. Sounds like he could turn out to be a wide body as well.

mhd great point...although, how often is a small town kid from ellsworth gonna know about a recruit from ft dodge? i mean, his coach obviously knew, but does that even get in the head of the kid.....hmmm dunno.

Has Cody made a decison yet on which college he will be going to?

Nope, Cody had NDSU, Crieghton, UNI in that order, but as I wrote in another post, he is "CONSIDERING" augustana (his girlfriend) and even has spoken with Winona State.

his coach is bewildered...

he is 6'9 and I quote..."REALLY BIG." Different from what we currently have. Huge shoulders, and will be a big kid in a few years. Not fat at all. Very strong. UNI was all over him for a long time, I think he waited too long, and verballed with us. HUGE get for Saul and team. Congrats. This does not eliminate Schilling. We still have one schollie available. he played on a very good AAU team in Iowa. I am pumped up to have a big kid wearing a Bison uniform!!

Good news, its good to get a big recruit. One scholarship left, so who is it going to between Dufault and Schilling? I suppose the first one that will commit. Dufault said he is not going to decide until the fall signing period.

RedRiver- YES and YES.

Dufult if he wants NDSU, Cody if that falls through, im hearing Cody is going to wait.

Lakes: Cody had NDSU, Crieghton, UNI in that order

A few weeks ago I posted....Schilling may be looking D2

Lakes reply:

NOPE NOPE NOPE

SCHILLING=UNI, NDSU, SDSU in that order. take it to the bank.

I am confused, what is the order, and what bank were we supposed to take that too?

Last schollie goes down to Mr. I can't decide if I want to go to Augie or NDSU.....or Dufault from Kildeer. I know I am praying for the ND kid to turn down the big city lights and dominate for the BISON!!!!!

Here is the story from the Forum.

http://www.in-forum.com/Sports/articles/175842

Isn't 6-9 250lbs a bit big to play power forward as posted at the beginning of this thread. Especially since the kids is only a Senior this season and as his coach says, I'm sure NDSU is going to put more weight on him.

In a "perfect world" he would redshirt.

I think the player sounds like a great fit for the Bison as we all know they need more paint players! As for Redshirting, I am not sure that is as big a deal for an incoming player...when he arrives on campus that player will be NCAA tourney elgable. If my information is right Miles planned on playing Ben Woodside as a freshman, but then the NCAA changed the ruling and it worked the best for that whole class to redhirt.

Every prospects situation is different, but looking into this one...we need the size...and the kid play if the opportunitie is there and he is ready. Sounds like Tveidt was good enough, but for him it was best to Redshirt. Again in this case, I say play the big horse!

I always promote redshirting. Several reasons. They get to go to class, get their grades in line, move away from mom/dad, get accustomed to living on their own....etc. Also, they are going to be better in their 5th year of school than in their 1st year. This hurt Zo Riley. I would have loved to have had him redshirt, but we needed the size at the time. It is situational. Tweidt can redshirt because he was behind Dre....so it worked perfect. Just my thoughts, and I know Saul agrees. Sometimes the kids can come in and be a factor. Carlson wants to play as a freshman, and it sounds like he will. Again, he will get minutes and it sounds like he is ready.

Nice find Tony. Great to hear he picked NDSU for its ag department and for basketball. Sounds like a good kid.

I like the fact he is going to take summer classes and play some ball in ND. Shows he is a dedicated player, the type NDSU needs to get to the next level.
