Scrimmage Today

Some people I am sure will have much deeper analysis than I (I talk to much when I am there), but they looked pretty good. Shamen ran a punt return back. Rohl ran the first play in for a TD and (insert -Joe Mays) had an easy interception dropped, but had a sack on Walker that he (Walker) rolled into that would have (had he been able to hit him) knocked Walker clear to Bentson-Bunker! It was fun to get out there and see them hit. It was also fun meeting a lot of guys on here. Road introduced me to Yo, SDBison and BisonGuy I believe. I hope I didn't miss anyone. See you guys for tailgating! ;)

It was nice meeting you B1SON along with Road, SD & BisonGuy it was a hoot. I know BisonGuy has posted pictures of the scrimmage but I haven't looked at them yet. A couple things you may have left out was; the sack on Walker would have been from #8 himself & I agree if he hadn't of stopped he would have knocked Walker into next week. #8 also dropped an interception that hit him right in the numbers & let out an explative that my wife heard when she was out walking in south Fargo.

I can't wait for the opener!!

IMO- the most interesting part of the scrimmage was the Ryan Parsons Project.

Great jumping catch for a TD in which he made the DB look silly, showed his speed, and showed that even if Walker is in the formation, it doesn't mean he'll be lining up behind the center.

Sounds like Ryan Parsons is an athlete they need on the field. I for one am glad he was willing to make the move to help the team.

BTW, I am excited to watch the Ryan Parsons project in action! I wonder if they will try and save it for CMU so there is no tape on it to further confuse the piss out of their d-coordinator?

Miscellaneous from this morning's first scrimmage:
1. They gave Shamen several cracks at punt return. I thought he looked pretty close to the old Shamen. Good cuts, good acceleration. Bohl said afterwards he's not convinced that he's all the way back though. Still, Shamen at 95% of what he was is still darn good.
2. First play one offense versus two defense, Roehl gets a massive hole and goes 50 yards for a score. The first time I'd seen Roehl break into the open like that this fall, and I was impressed. Good acceleration, good foot speed. Bohl said afterwards that his 40 time is actually faster than Steffes was last year.
3. Paschall did not get many big lanes to run through so no great highlights, but Bohl said afterwards that he's had a few big runs in practice. Bohl said he's really taking things seriously and will definitely play a role this fall. Nice 1-2 punch with Roehl for sure.
4. Wurzbacher looked quicker off the line than I remember him last year. Made a nice catch for a TD. Bohl raves about his improvement and has told coaches to expand his role in the offense.
5. Second team offense looked really sloppy I thought. Penalties and limited gains.
6. Mertens has a cannon for an arm.
7. Shamen looked good catching the ball today. Just missed a bomb from Mertens. Would have been a tough catch, just off his fingertips. Made several nice grabs, a couple in traffic.
8. Parsons also made some nice catches including a TD. Looks just as comfortable catching the ball than running the option offense. In order for that change-up offense to work, he has to be able to complete a pass or two or nobody will respect the pass and will load up against the run. Only tried one pass out of that formation today and didn't complete it.
9. Nobody got hurt and I guarantee you that's how Bohl measured success today.

I dont remember Sammys pizza. But I do remember Duanes. Which one is better for thin crust? What about seating????
If someone will post there phone #s I will call them and see what type of arraingements I can make.
But I do need a heads up for how many people to expect so I can reserve seating if that is possible
I would also think Thursday night would work better as to avoid the friday rush. But I will talk to who ever runs the place to find out what works best.PL

According to Kolpack, the secondary is giving up big plays.

We will sorely miss Craig Dahl this year. Belmont may have talent, but is not experienced.
