Highlights:

Kicking off from the 30. Rolling back the timing changes from last year.

Specials could get more interesting. I agree with the article on kicks OB we'll see fewer starts from the 35 and more re-kicks from the 20.

I don't know if it's going to affect coin toss strategy as much as the author thinks though. Unless you're Hawaii or you're playing Hawaii I think the added advantage of receiving the opening kick will be negligible. Though is Washington is back healthy for us.

Yeah, with Shamen, Paschall, and McNorton - I kind of think the rule change could work in NDSU's favor. It'd help if our kicker had a huge cannon for a leg and could get a touchback most of the time, but I suppose the guys on special teams want to get some tackles too.

Good rule change along with the fact that the clock no longer starts till the opposing team touches the ball. I also like the fact that they changed the rule about being off sides on the kickoff and just having a re kick. You have to especially love the change anytime you have a guy who can take it to the house on any play with Shamen. It also makes finding a kickoff specialist a little more important then years past.

I'm glad they're changing the rediculous time starting issue they created last year. I'm usually opposed to other rule changes...it's a mature sport that is very successful, why mess with it now? Rule changes usually have unintended consequences...just look at last year's clock starting rule.

Last years clock change had nothing to do with "for the good of the game"" It was driven by the networks to shorten game times hence more time for advertising dollars. PL

Well, whatever the reason, they've changed it back.

Agreed. Remember the "halo" rule? That was almost as dumb as the "starting the clock" rule.

D'oh - I didn't mention Majeski in the list of return guys.
